I heard that track last weekend. Those few piano notes playing over and over was like an 8-year-old playing chopsticks. I hope a true instrumental track uses strings much more than this.
Replace Sam Smiff with this, fantastic voice, I would like to hear her do some of the other themes, she should have a great singing career ahead of her.

As I've said before and when I mentioned Connie Talbot's original version - this song is so much better and more suited, to being sung by a female - particularly the chorus.
It's Sam Smith's voice that just doesn't work with it.
How incredibly sexist of everyone

This is a good premise.... I think they did overlap the dubstep bit a bit much, but it does bring it kicking and sreeming into the 21st century )

At first I thought it was going to be good, but it did fail to excite me. I agree with Lexi, maybe a bit of a modern take on the music is good. Not quite Eric Serra though...
Sorry to bring up a old argument , but today for the 1st time ,ive heard Sam Smith sing The whitings on the wall while ive been in my car . I have listened to it on the lap top ,and mates mobile phones , (it was crap then ) .Now while driving along cosseted in beige Dakota leather, and polished walnut in me BEE EMM, it came on. Finger at the ready ,I pushed the steering wheel mounted volume button up and waited. Its still crap ,even 8 speakers of Bavarian HI FI, couldn't do this bucket of cold donkey urine ,any justice ,its cringeworthy, embarrassing, not worthy of a Bond film . I cant totally blame Smith ,because if some one had said to me ,"ere Dave ,do the Bond song for us mate" I would take the big fat cheque and give it a go .No the person who should be drowned in said bucket of donkey urine ,is the person or persons ,who put Smiths name in the frame. ITS STILL RUBBISH X-(
I like it. As I've said before, I wasn't too keen on first listen (apart from the orchestration) but it grew on me after a while and now I attach this song completely to the film and upon listening my excitement builds..
I think we'll all agree that Writings on the Wall is not as good as many of the themes, BUT it is 'of the moment', the orchestral arrangement is beautiful and I now regard the song as a consociate of the film.

Cards on the table, I'd love to see David Arnold do more Bonds, I love
all his film scores not just Bond -{ but to listen to some on here. You'd
Think EON simply went down to the British Legion and grabbed the first

a great song it is.
I just saw a track listing for the soundtrack, it includes an instrumental of WOTW. Sounds hopeful that Newman has woven the theme into his music.

She's good. But she still needs a few tweaks. Just some of the notes are a little flat. Still prefer it over Sam Smiths version.
