Dr. No vs. Casino Royale (2006)

Which Bond film do you prefer the one that started it all (Dr. No) or the Daniel Craig reboot? (Casino Royale 2006)

Yes, very tough choice but as CR is my second favourite
Bond film, I'll have to go with that.

I think I prefer Dr. No just because I love director Terence Young and at least Terence Young didn't make Green Lantern. And in Warner Brothers's eyes Green Lantern is so bad that it needs a 2020 reboot.

    Casino Royale.

One of the best reboots I can think off

Dr No remains my favourite novel. The book is by far more outrageous then the film..
    1. For Your Eyes Only 2. The Living Daylights 3 From Russia with Love 4. Casino Royale 5. OHMSS 6. Skyfall

Dr. No introduced the real James Bond to the world, so for me it's no contest! :D

    Casino Royale is great, though.

if we are saying ,that one is going to be stranded on a desert island ,then ,it would have to be CR ,

    Dr. No by far.

Casino Royale is the most un-cool Bond movie ever made. It tried hard and failed.

Dr. No, on the other hand, is super cool.
    My current 10 favorite:

    1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

I'd have to go with Casino Royale too. Though I am a big fan of Dr.No

Failed at what? At the box office? No. With critics? Not with most of them. With Bond fans? Some of them, sure, but it appears that significant numbers of fans were pleased with the reboot. Perhaps you're just reiterating that it failed with you. Fair enough, but overall I'd say Casino Royale is one of the more successful Bond films (although for the purposes of this query, I'd choose Dr. No)

Dr. No. Any of the Connery/Lazenby Bonds is better than the modern ones because of the acting, writing, and directing. There is nothing as meaty or sophisticated in the dialogue, for instance, in Casino Royale as the meet up between No and Bond. Casino Royale is the finest of any of the Bonds that came after them, however.

No question, Dr No. Nothing in CR was as cool as Bond's dinner with No.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

This is no contest for me. Casino Royale by a country mile. I have to be in the mood to watch some of the older films. Dr. No is certainly one of those.
1, GE 2, CR 3, SF 4, TWINE 5, Spectre 6, TMWTGG 7, DAD 8, LALD 9, AVTAK 10, LTK 11, Octopussy 12, Moonraker 13, TLD 14, GF 15, QOS 16, Tomorrow 17, FYEO 18. TSWLM Not seen much: Dr. No, Russia, Thunderball, Twice, Majesty.

    1: Brosnan 2: Craig 3: Moore 4: Dalton 5: Connery and 6: Lazenby

CR, hands down. Yeah, it is that good. Craig's Bond is up there with Connery's in DN too. CR is also my favourite Fleming novel.

Except the PTS, the building site chase, parking scene, beach scenes, the first poker game, the airport sequence, every sequence with Vesper in it, the second poker game, the ladder fight, the poisoning, the torture scene and the Venice sequence...

But Dr. No has Connery. (Drops the mike and walks off stage.) :))

There's no question about it, Dr. No certainly has the better leading man but does Dr. No have the better leading lady? Now, that's debatable.

True, but I'd rather see Craig (who in my book is second best only to Connery) doing all those things than Mr. Connery with all his charm talking to Dr.No.

Don't get me wrong, I enjoy Dr.No, and now I appreciate all its charms. But between CR and DN...CR, always. Forever.

Now ask me FRWL vs. CR. That's a tougher one...

DN has a 40s/50s soundtrack only saved by the miraculous Bond Theme, "written" by some Monty Norman, and ARRANGED by the great John Barry. DN soundtrack is one of the big "whys?" in the series. Why didn't they just hire John Barry?

Alas, I am legally restricted from answering that question. Seriously.

Sorry about that Mr. Norman, I just don't like your soundtrack for DN. I also think that the making of the Bond Theme between you and Mr. Barry went something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-ciFTP_KRy4
