Anyway From Russia With Love is clearly better because it's easier to keep up with the action in the story.

Really ? What can't you understand ? It's the most straight-forward movie in the franchise...

You don't get it, do you? It's hard to keep up with the action in Quantum of Solace because it's mostly just a damn flurry of motion that was clumsily edited together. Even the late Peter R. Hunt would look at Quantum of Solace and throw his freaking hands up in the air, in frustration. Now that's all I have to say on the matter, so good day to you, sir.

Wow - very rude ! And you can channel Peter Hunt from beyond the grave...impressive :o

Just because you can't follow it that doesn't mean us mere mortals can't....

I find it quite easy to follow now. I remember the first time I watched Star Wars- I could barely take it all in it moved so fast; now it's very normal.
Dalton & Connery rule. Brozz was cool.

No, I can't channel Peter Hunt from beyond the grave. But I can imagine his reaction, when trying to cut that Quantum of Solace mess into a respectable movie... :))

By the way, everything that Haphazard Stuff says about Quantum of Solace is true, or at the very least hard to debate over.

I finished watching From Russia With Love again, so it's fresh in my mind. I have a tough time ranking these two because Quantum of Solace is underrated, and From Russia With Love is very good but I can't say it eclipses QoS in overall quality.

FRWL had a lot of really nice scenes, and from the perspective of 007 being a spy, it completely nails it. It's really clever and full of action. At the same time the pacing is really slow. And FRWL is the most misogynistic Bond film I've seen so far. I can totally understand a film being a product of its time. Dr. No was. Goldfinger was. But this movie has domination of women baked right into its very DNA to such a disgusting extent. QoS is more of a blood-thirsty action movie but with darker political undertones than a standard Bond movie, but overall I think both are very good.

I truly believe Haphazard has got this wrong - particularly about Camille.

Why do you say that? I mean after all him saying that Camille is one of the most forgettable Bond girls is kind of true. There was apparently nothing in that script to convince him otherwise.

So you can 'imagine' Peter Hunt's reaction now ? I can imagine an Aston Martin in my garage, doesn't mean it's likely.... ;)
I take it you must have known Peter Hunt on a personal level to be able to be so certain about his reaction to QoS....?...or are you guessing ? :v

You don't like QoS - I get it...doesn't make it a bad movie though...just a movie you don't like...I do...it's infinitely better than most Bond movies - for me...I understand it, I don't find it difficult to follow...I just wish it was 30 mins longer...

    Well said Sir Miles -{

I also don't quite 'get' the notion that some feel that they must speak on behalf of all of us. Words like "is clearly better" appear to give the impression that everyone is in some sort of agreement, or that we should all buy in to this line of thinking.

For the record, FRWL just shades it for me, solely due to my belief that the villains are fully explored - another 20-30 mins more of QoS would have enabled us to see Greene in more detail, hopefully so that his character could have been developed a little further ... but hey, that's just my opinion ;)

Because Camille was going through her own journey.

The general watched as her family died. It was the same as Bond going after Vesper. They both went through their emotions together. She wasn't forgettable she was internal. I think Bond had a deeper connection with her then some girls (ie Jinx, Wai Lin etc)

Her journey wasn't important though. Quantum should have been about Bond's journey. But no, we get all of these plot-points on the side when the damn movie should have been more focused on Bond and his journey. Also, what good is Camille if Bond is not going to open up about what happened to Vesper, with her? Quantum might as well not even have Camille at all, or that Strawberry Fields woman. Because they're just distractions. And they take something from Bond's story.

Whats the point in having a Bond girl if she isn't given her own journey? ?:)

I know we'll dress her up in a bikini and give her a pout. There you go - theres you Bond girl.. :s

Quantum didn't need a Bond girl, though. The ghost of Vesper should have been weighing down on Bond for the whole movie. But instead we get Camille and Strawberry, who are distracting the audience from Bond's story.

I agree. The movie should be 20-30 minutes longer. With 126-136 minutes it'd be able to flesh out characters, better integrate action in the plot... It's actually the shortest Bond movies ever, and it feels sketchy at times. Not a bad movie, but could be much better.

No the villain can stay but he should've killed Camille when he showed her that drowned geologist. He could've drowned Camille too. Taken her out of the equation.

You turn into quite the jerk whenever somebody picks on your favorite Bond movie, don't you? I mean it's not like Quantum of Solace is going to disintegrate, if I talk badly about it. I mean it's not like Marc Forster, Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson are going to be devastated if I don't like Quantum of Solace... :)
