Nice! {[] I think this is spot on. Straight-up is a good way to describe DC as a drink, although he may have a splash of water, because he's not actually that rough lol.

Not enjoying the MR/DAD connections. Yes MR is more OTT than other Bonds but it is nowhere near as s**t as DAD. DAD IMO is a really low point in the Bond series because it's not even trying to be serious or meaningful. It's actually a joke.

Bond captured and tortured for 18 months? Abandoned by M? Engaged in a nearly life-or-death swordfight? I'd say the first half of DAD is pretty serious stuff.

How badly the film descends doesn't IMO help these scenes. Which I'd only actually say the PTS and the sword-fight are great - everything else is still rubbish.

    Not enjoying the MR/DAD connections.

The connections are between the novel of MR and the film DAD- the film of MR owes less to that novel than DAD, strangely enough.

Purvis and Wade started with the MR novel - but it all got bent out of sink. It resembled a bad parody..

Certainly did. One of the worst scenes for me is when Graves is hanging out of the plane and Bond presses the electricity surge button. While going through the engine is pretty awesome lol, the special effects and the completely outlandish way he is electrocuted is a JOKE.

Brozzer was my favourite as my kid, I do think he has 4 solid films. It's just that Craig is even better now. 1. Craig 2. Brosnan 3. Connery for me ^^ Still love them all.

Where do Moore and Dalton land for you?

    4. Dalton 5. Moore 6. Lazenby. But they're all excellent and it feels very bad to rank them for me. Although I think this would be my list.

I dunno about there being a best Bond (maybe Connery, Moore, or Dalton has the strongest case) but Brozzer is currently my fave.

Brosnan deserves more credit than he gets these days for GE alone. Truly one of the great Bond performances.

My feeling on Brosnan now is that he ended up being a hybrid of Connery/Moore without, as said elsewhere, ever truly being his own man. Don't get me wrong..I really enjoyed him as Bond and tbh I can't blame him for playing it safe. Dalton had tried to go for broke in LTK with his own completely unique take on the character and like it or not, it wasn't particularly well received.

Like Moore he was a well known actor and a safe pair of hands and tbh after the break after LTK thank God someone like him was around to take up the mantle because otherwise the series could have been in trouble.

So I can't be down on Brozzer..a very good Bond hampered by some terrible material at times. Strangely his films seem to be dating quite badly..

I agree that he was hamstrung by the scripts. I really liked him as Bond. In fact, I have pictured him in scenes of the early films like FRWL as well as some of Moore's films and he seems to fit fine in any of them. I even don't have a problem putting him in CR. Had he been able to have done it when he was the same age he was in GE, I think he would have been fine.

He'll most likely always be one of my favorites, given that I love many of his one-liners and I love all his performances as Bond.

I've watched a few films from the 90/early 00s recently that I once thought were good-looking/stylish - but now they just look dated. The Thomas Crown Affair and The Italian Job are good examples of this.

GE just kinda always feels like it's from 1995 and it didn't seem to me that it was attempting to be overly current. I recently watched TWINE and really enjoyed how that film does not appear to be dated either.

TND and DAD feel dated, especially DAD - mostly because of the overt special effects, which IMO seemed impressive at the time.

I watched TWINE very recently and I was really impressed with how it didn't seem to be at all dated. The BMW Z8 helps, being that it was such a special car that I didn't see all over the place like the Z3 or 7 series to remind me of the 90s. And the Z8 would look just as fresh if it came out today. Valentin has a late 70s Rolls Royce, so that's not dated either. Brosnan's clothes completely avoid any fashion trends, and it's especially helpful that he doesn't wear any casual clothes.

GE, on the other hand, just has such a dated feel to it overall. Brosnan's clothes are much more of the 90s, though not bad.

Have to say that Brosnan's suits in TWINE are absolutely insanely amazingly good. They'd still look fantastic today!

But you're right about GE - very British 90s look. Almost like Brosnan just walked off a middle-management shift at the bank.

I grew up with Brosnan as Bond, so I will always enjoy his portrayal of the character. He just seems to convey the ideal qualities of what makes Bond Bond. And he's a perfect combination of the actors who played him before, with Moore's humour and Connery's suaveness. He made the role his, even if his films are a bit hit and miss through no fault of his.

And it's great to see all the love for Brosnan in this thread. He and his films have been looked upon poorly in recent years, so it's nice to see some appreciation for him and what he did for the role and series.

I like Pierce as Bond and felt he never really got the chance to do his best. I see him as a Caretaker Bond,a kind of composite, or a Bond cocktail. He had some really good moments and deserves respect. He was I think treated badly. Glad that his post Bond period is going well. Bond can be a bit of a curse.
