Every 2-3 years depending on the economy and the society, there is a new Bond film. It is like the Olympics of the movie industry!
And great events in the world happens every 2 years, the Olympics and the elections, depending what country you live in. But the World Cup only happens once every 4 years.

It's true that the "Waltz is Blofeld" rumour was all over the news just as Waltz was cast, so it would be no surprise at all if he indeed is. But he's just so perfect for that character that it would be a real waste to cast him and then use him just as a red herring. Yes, if Seydoux or Bellucci are Blofeld it would be more surprising, but I'm not looking for the "Sixth Sense" type of ending in a Bond movie anyway.

Did I mention how stoked I was with the title?!?! I mean, of all the one word movie titles that seem to be in vogue right now, this one carried so much context with it. Case in point, what's the meaning of Skyfall and why should I care? Oh, yeah, that's where Albert Finney brews his own ale while reading Bronte (take your pick).

When SPECTRE was rumoured the other week I wasn't too thrilled. But I realised this morning that I am like a crack addict when it comes to Bond. They could have called it Bananas and I would still be salivating at the thought of the next film and wondering what was next. I am already hooked and stoked. Can't wait. Should be fun.
I agree with those who say one or more of the characters won't be what they seem. Waltz as Blofeld seems too obvious (but didn't we say the same thing about Mallory being M for a while?). Andrew Scott as a baddy is also too obvious (see previous comment about Waltz). But that said, I don't buy Bellucci as Blofeld. I think you need a real actor for that role because there's a fair chance of it being a recurring character (I hope they don't bring back Blofeld and then kill him/her in the same film!) and as much as I lust/drool/salivate/worship/adore Bellucci and as thrilled to bits as I am at having her in this film, I just don't see her being a good enough actor to carry a role like that. Sorry, Monica, ti amo cara!

You mean,in the first 30 minutes of exposition, you first meet Bellucci's character and she's Blofeld,there and then? Then why call her character "Lucia Sciarra"? was Blofeld renamed Lucia Siarra Blofeld? I don't think so.

I'm ecstatic about the title, now that it's 'out there.' It brought an immediate smile to my face, and a thrill to my heart. On these very boards, I had speculated that they wouldn't use two one-word titles in row, and was reminded about GF and TB ;% Quite so. And here they are, back to back one-word titles beginning with an 's,' no less...I suppose I should have said I wouldn't do it that way, but Eon these days is certainly in a groove, and why argue with it?
As obvious as it is to those of us who have been certified (or certifiable) as Bond Savants, SPECTRE actually is a cracking good title on its own, but it will ripple through fandom and generate a self-sustaining buzz as we parse and discuss.
Cristoph Waltz - brilliant. Dave Bautista - brilliant. Monica Belluci - WOW. A lovely surprise. I envision a femme fatale character, but would be delighted if Irma Bunt were given a 21st Century twist and end up as a smoking hot deadly dangerous female animal...
Add the new regulars at MI6, and the Aston Martin DB10, and shall we say that they've already sold me the tickets? :007)

For decades Bond was officially the highest grossing most successful film series out there. In fact, there wasn't even a close second. However, in this second decade of the 21st century, film series are all the rage. Harry Potter, Marvel, XMen, Fast and Furious to name a few. Now we have Star Wars back so I am sure the producers see the need to make not only a hugely successful entry into the Bond series, but a world class film to compete with the other now well established series.
The cast and crew we were introduced to yesterday are without a doubt world class. However, they will be nothing without a great script. Here's hoping we get the film event of the decade and it is able to out do all the other competition.

Now, with the new film. The Mr Kill-style henchman. The snow theme. The Aston Martin unveiled at the press conference, looking like a bar of soap. The two new gals paraded. The villain who appears to be one sort of person at the beginning of the film and winds up another. A Bond actor in his fourth outing, looking a bit C&A.
Yes... it's the new DAD....
As for Waltz and the Moriaty actor, this is all well and good, it's just... they are not original. We know their bag of tricks. It was Tarantino - passed over by the producers - who discovered Walz, and the Sherlock team who unearthed the Moriaty guy.
With Dr No, Red Grant, GF and most of 'em, they were played by actors who are new to us.
It's funny, I just ran across a relatively old interview with Michael G.Wilson, must have been somewhere pre Casino Royale when these questions were asked:

Well, as they say, "NSNA," pun intended! I think legally putting to bed the McClory claims over the TB/Blofeld/SPECTRE rights, which happened around after CR, changed things for EON's planning. I'm sure it cost them money to finally settle that decades long issue and they wanted to get something back from that investment.

I think that it's great - the poster is great, the cast (minus Kleinman) is great - I am just hoping that they keep their fingers off from OHMSS!
