    :)) I'd never thought of that before, but it's true. :D

    I agree there's a lot of merit to that perspective. I like DAD more than it seems many fans do, but mostly for the first half. I think Brosnan does some strong work here, and the unfolding of the plot is interesting. Even the overtly humorous touches like Bond's stroll through the hotel lobby in his pajamas don't bother me. And the emergence of Halle Berry from the ocean was a true visual treat (ruined only to a certain extent when she started talking!) But it took a turn for the worse for me once the story moved from Cuba to the Ice Palace. Still, I found enough to like about DAD that it is higher on my list than several other Bond films.

    As for QOS, I enjoy it as a follow up to CR, with another very strong performance by Daniel Craig. My biggest problem with the film is some of the oft-complained about editing of the action sequences, although only the opening car chase really bothered me. I also thought Greene and his henchman Elvis were pretty weak, but other than that I quite enjoy the movie.

    I'm not sure why people still think that Elvis was a 'henchman' ?:)

    For me, QoS is my favorite bond film (not the best, that award goes to CR, but my favorite.) I like the fact that the plot is a bit hard to pick up on until you watch it a few times. I don't know, I guess I like to work for my entertainment! Visually I think it has the perfect look for a modern bond film. It's gritty, yet elegant. The Tosca scene is a particular standout for the series as a whole. I like how it was never firmly established if Mathis was a traitor or not. I like the ambiguity of it. Really, I don't mind Greene all that much. It's true that he's a very weak villain but yet somehow it doesn't bug me. Daniel Craig gives his best performance and looks his best in any of his films. Really the only thing I dislike is the jump from the plane.

    True, he wasn't a henchman in the classical sense that he provided to muscle for the main villain. More like a sidekick. Or a number one assistant and confidante? How about social secretary? Hell, I'll admit it - I have no idea what Elvis is doing there! :))

    I'm actually puzzled why people like The Dark Knight and Skyfall. Like you said, it's all opinion.

    Don't forget that Die Another Day was a HUGE hit with both critics and audiences when it was released.

    DAD was a "huge hit" with critics? It gets 57% on Rotten Tomatoes (i.e. "rotten") and only 45% among "top critics."

    Perhaps you're thinking of another film.

    Many critics damned it with faint praise. Drinks vodka martin. Check. Says Oneliners. Check. Girl in biikni. Check. It was the way they marked all the Brosnans but i remember one newspaper say "this Bond isn't that good"

    And the bad reviews occurred on the internet.

    As many, many have said, the first half in my opinion is very good.
    The second, not so good. :D but I still watch it from time to time. -{

    Everytime I watch DAD I love it up to when the invisible car is introduced..I was so disappointed how it dissolved into such a noisy mess and still am. Still think the moment when he walks into the hotel looking like a tramp is awesome though. That's the thing, every Bond film..however average has its great scenes.

    QOS is the same..hated the choppy editing but the scene at the opera was classic Bond I thought and Craig is great in it. The moment he **** that bloke off his motorbike makes me laugh everytime :)) .

    To be honest I can't think of a Bond film that isn't worth watching for some reason or another (which is probably why I'm here.. :v )
