In the books, Bond will often take either a cold shower or a very hot shower followed by an ice cold one.
I've also heard this technique will ramp up your immune system.
Ever been brave enough to try one? or make it a habit?

Never tried,as my wife wouldn't put up with the swearing, )
but have had plenty of cold showers, whilst working away from home ,nasty
Never taken a hot-then-cold shower either.
That would be funny if Bond instinctively turned on the cold water while showering with a dame. Then you would really get to hear Tanya Roberts scream. )

1. Increases Alertness
2. Refines Hair and Skin
3. Improves Immunity and Circulation
4. Stimulates Weight Loss
5. Speeds Up Muscle Soreness and Recovery
6. Eases Stress
7. Relieves Depression
I'm not clear on what Bond's reasoning was, but he would certainly benefit from items #1 #5 and #6
Of all the Bond actors, only Connery and Craig seem the type of who would advocate an ice cold shower. IMO

Maybe? I did do a search for "shower" topic before posting.

A cold bath?! Now that is hardcore! )
There are times that I do take the Bond shower. It feels invigorating.
Easing the muscles after a long day.
Just don't pull a Connery and leave the water running while you wander off into the bedroom.

That's a Bond shower I wouldn't pass )
I like taking cold showers in the Summer. I'll do it if I happen to shower after a really good workout too. It took me a bit of training to adjust to taking cold showers after a hot one though... which I learned how to do at the Korean Spas. They have pools of hot/cold water and I would watch women plunging themselves between the two back and forth. Though I must say it feels really good after spending a lot of time in a hot sauna/hot pool of water.
I assumed Bond did cold showers to benefit from Hot/Cold Therapy (or also referred as contrast bath therapy) to reduce stress and body inflammation.
I don't know why it is, but eventhough water in the tap is never as cold as lake or sea water in winter, taking a cold shower is much more uncomfortable than going for ice swimming.

Here's an interesting article I read a while back on it.
