I agree that the good things about CR were the parts taken from the novel. But how did QoS fix CR's problems? Like CR, it still had boring action sequences.

Okay. I find the airport sequence probably the most boring 7 minutes of any Bond film. At least it has a good ending, but every time I watch it is just doesn't get to the ending in an interesting way at all.

No, they were very good

I always thought they had put these long action sequences in the first part of the movie to balance it out, considering that the rest is basically sitting around a table playing cards. Don't get me wrong, I love the card playing part of the movie, but there are simply too many Bond fans who wouldn't accept it without some serious action (and rightfully so?)
With some distance, and after having seen it so many times , I've come to find them a bit drawn out, too, especially Miami airport. I think they could've cut a few minutes from those scenes in the beginning (when the story and / or their relevance to it isn't really established yet) and instead put some more action in after the poker game (like a longer car chase, as many have said).
That being said, the scenes themselves are very well made and the movie as a whole is still about a 9.8/10 in my book

I have so many criticisms of CR, but I'm not going to share them because nobody wants to hear them. It's in my bottom quarter of the Bond film ranking, though above QoS and a few of Brosnan's films, which I hardly find enjoyable.

I like hearing people's criticisms if they are thought-out and explained. What I can't stand is when people criticise Bond films they've only seen once or haven't seen in a long time. Like when people criticise Octopussy because of the clown suit. Since those people remember it as a stupid gag, I get the impression they haven't seen the film in a long time and I can't take them seriously.
I do agree, it helps if people explain their reasons for disliking a movie
rather than a short " ...... Is Crap !" and I also agree with saying you

someone has only watched a film once yert feels expert enough to cut it to

As I'm sure there are loads of things in the movies I've missed.
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
I really like reading the opinions (positive and negative) from fellow Bond fans. We have, each of us, probably watched the films many times over the years, but still can have different likes and dislikes from each other and I find that pretty interesting. Hell even my own opinions change at times. I take on board all of the comments I read here - both good and bad - and sometimes it makes me see something new about a film that I had never noticed before. -{
But usually I just think that I am right.
1) The scene in M's apartment bothers me. I prefer 007 to keep professional distance from his superior.
2) Bond blew up an embassy, which I find unprofessional. Maybe many don't mind but I like my Bond to be wary of potential international repercussions of his actions. Then again, Bond was supposed to be a rookie in the movie, but still, blowing up an embassy is no small detail when you're an international spy. If it had been a real spy, he would've been disavowed.
3) Nowadays, I find the Bond/Vesper romance rather cheesy. I'm sure many love the romance, but as for me, bah humbug.
I still think CR is a pretty good Bond movie, but it's not a personal fave.

The problems with 1 and 2 go together: Bond being unprofessional. CR and SF are both about the good guys making mistakes. Everyone needs to be more competent before put in the field. It's like Bond wasn't trained. Ian Fleming wrote Bond as someone who was very good at his job.
About 3, I don't find it cheesy, I just think it's so poorly written and acted. Daniel Craig and Eva Green have no chemistry together. If you want a cheesy love story, just watch Jaws and Dolly. But that one for me is somehow more believable. That one is done through physical emotions and no dialogue. It's second in the Bond series to Tania falling in love with Bond, though that's only one way love.

I find it really hard to knock CR ad it re-ignighted my love for Bond after the dire Brosnan era (minus GE) lost my interest. I remember coming out of the cinema and i would have happily paid to go right back in and watch it again. I really do think that even if it wasnt a Bond film it would still be a great actioner.
That did read a bit harsh of the B man didnt it. I really liked him as Bond and he did well with what he had but i think he was let down by the scripts.
Please don't take my remarks as anything personal Vandrell,
It was only a throw away line to open my post. I agree he got
some weak scripts.

I felt the same way, but as mentioned above I can understand most of the criticism now under close scrutiny. We should keep in mind though that movies, after all, are made for the cinema and if it blows you away and makes you re-watch it >10 times, a movie just can't have been too bad I guess. )

I recently watched both CR & QOS and I have to say the constant praise heaped on it is precisely as undeserved as the endless poop heaped on QOS. Although quite different, they are both just very good movies.
How long since you watched it, TP? I just saw it a couple of weeks ago, and I definitely had many issues with it. Overall yeah, it was great, but I feel it was a little too self-indulgent and of course, too long. Then there's the sinking building OTT thing to hammer us over the head with an image symbolizing Bond's connection to Vesper being destroyed. 8-)
