"Don't get me wrong: Craig has done a magnificent job as Bond, and I think that the staircase scene in Casino Royale remains one of the best fight scenes in the Bond film franchise. I can easily picture Fleming's Bond in that same fight. Bond is brutal at close combat, but I think some of the stunts that EON has inserted into the modern Bond films is rather implausible and beyond anything that the Fleming Bond would've done."
I agree. As with the large action scenes and stunts, it's why the films (or most films) veer off the original footprint. In order to draw in more audiences they had to stay stay current with the times and with more and more action films flooding the market with A list actors and almost Bond like plots at times, EON had to alter the original character's undercover spy to that of big screen action hero in order to compete.
When watching the the Craig films repeatedly (even CR) it's very obvious where the cinematic scenes are inserted into Fleming's world. All the stunt set pieces (foot chase, airport chase, Venice battle) are just that - action stunt scenes added to the story in order to give visual thrills. At least they do make an attempt to justify them in the plot. Then there is Fleming's work..the casino scenes, Bond being poisoned (though I would have preferred the gun in the cane as in the novel), the torture and his recovering at the clinic, Vesper's betrayal, his interaction with Le Chiffre. It makes it very clear where his ideas are at and where the cinematic ideas are padded in around his.
Given all that, I think the reboot has gotten closer to the beginning of the series and I hope EON continues this trend even after Craig's departure.
Yes, Old people just don't get tec. I have fourteen kindles with
The Fleming Bonds and they're great, have them on the shelf
And they do take up less space than the books.

I have electronic readers and laptops but in my opinion, none of those compare to a book for ease of use, dependability, it's tactile feel in my hand and even the scent of the paper and ink. They may become less valuable to this generation and future ones, but they will always be a treasure in my house.

Oh, you have each novel on a Kindle. I though I needed one for each page! (I'm at page 57 of Casino Royale, and so far it's costing me a fortune!)
) Yes Only young people like me can use tec the right way. )
I tried to read something on my Son's Kindle (he has all new stuff to read books on), so I picked it up & no print appeared. I asked it to display pages, but it's apparently not voice activated. I figured maybe the circuits or whatever were dirty, so I dipped it in a basin of soapy water and it started displaying pages like crazy for a second, then went dark. I'm embarrassed to ask my Son, so tell me hi-tek TP, how do I get it to work now?
LTK is not from a Fleming novel, although it employs some names from "The Hildebrand Rarity" , the infamous LALD shark attack on Leiter, & the note...but at its core it's basically a re-working of the Kurosawa film Yojimbo (yeah, it sounds like Wade addressing James) wherein a Ronin works both sides of a town full of corruption to bring it all down.
Question: how Flemingesque or non-Flemingesque do you find this entry?
I actually find LTK to be one of THE most Flemingesque films, even more so than TLD despite the awesome opening sniper scene from the short story. I really feel LTK benefited greatly from a more 'restrained' budget, and gave it an early Connery feel.
Less really is sometimes more. A Barry score would put this well above TLD for me, as it is I see them comparable Bonds overall.
I still can't quite envision Dalton as Fleming's Bond. He's just too old, too tall, and too handsome.
No offence to Sir Tim, but he's not too handsome. And he's no taller than Connery & shorter than Brosnan. And too old? He was playing Bond in his forties.
The only "It's Him!" moment I've experienced is when watching Craig in QoS.

... which I think is a damn shame. They don't know what the real James Bond is meant to be like.
Hope you got something like this http://shop.bl.uk/mall/productpage.cfm/BritishLibrary/_ISBN_9786000026240/519344/Adventures-of-Sherlock-Holmes-eReader-case-%28medium%29 to put each kindle in.
