OHMSS In SF Pics

OHMSS was screened Sunday, Dec 14 in 35MM at the famous Castro Theatre in San Francisco, USA.
My dear friends, it has been over 30 years since I have seen my favourite film of all time on the big screen, and what a thrill it was not only to be able to share a little vignette of the Aston Martin DBS and a Cougar outside the theatre, and speak with so many like minded fans- but then, when those dots rolled across the screen, everyone cheered!
I cannot tell you what an experience that was- to experience OHMSS with an enthusiastic crowd, who laughed at the "Other Feller" line, cheered for "My name's Bond.." and applauded the Aston!
Yes, Amanda and I shed tears at the end...
Seeing the film in 35MM again made me fall in love with OHMSS and the Aston all over again!
I am truly grateful to the Castro Theatre for welcoming us, and for their cooperation and enthusiasm for the project.

We all here are Bond fans, and debate, enjoy, and write about our experiences. There is nothing, though, like being in a PACKED HOUSE with the energy towords a shared love of a film!

Outside, we had the usual crowd of appreciative fans and passersby, who engaged us for a few hours on that nearly rainy Sunday.
Thanks to Mark Smith for sharing his Cougar, and to all the OHMSSDBS.com team for another great showing!
I am truly lucky to have seen "my film" in 35MM with that smart, hip, and enthusiastic crowd.
Go see your Bond on the big screen if you can- no DVD, Blue Ray, etc comes close...

I must tell you that all of the Bond films are beloved worldwide. Each generation has their own favourites, and I was so lucky to meet fellow OHMSS fans. Over the years, we all have endured those who slam our film, claiming all sorts of nonsense, and to see it live in 35MM really puts a different perspective on Lazenby's performance. He was really, really good- many facial expressions, and sublte cues lost on the small screen.
Piz Gloria is incredible, and that scene on the journey to Blofeld's Hideaway is breathtaking.
Also, some dialogue lost on the DVDs, "His bretheren...closed shop."
And the girls near Gumbold's office speaking German on their way to the lift is usually left off the dvds for some reason.
Gumbold's safe music is loud, as it should be, and dominates the scene.
The music is also loud, correctly so, in the Palacio abduction scene. Totally wrong on the dvd.

To have a packed house cheer for the gunbarrel, an laugh at "slight stiffness," really validated all of those times I would suffer with the ABC tv cut, or a lousy Betamax print.

I hope that all of you get to see your favourite at the movies, just like they were intended to be seen.

I know that they are going to do Thunderball in 2015, and we will have a DB5 and a Mustang out in front to celebrate....
    Cheers,
    Tom
