Sounds like a great purchase Bond44, you should post some pics of your new timepiece! Was there any negotiation on price with them? I'm strongly considering a purchase from their website, but if there is any movement on their prices, then I will phone them.

Yes probably well worth a call to discuss with them. I was lucky to be able to go in store and bagged a nice discount. Actually i set a price in my head and thought if they wont go there I am walking away. I asked about any movement on price and they offered what I had in mine. I knew their trade in price so had worked out their margins. I could probably have asked for a little more but I was happy so made the purchase.

Here is a shot of the new Speedy on a NASA velcro strap for a touch of history as well

    Cheers :-)

    What makes you think that?

    What makes you think that?

In January the Swiss franc cap was removed and it raised dramatically against the pound/euro.

A new swiss watch could be ~15% more.

Although I feel looking at the new AT they may have just cut some corners. I thought it was fake the first time :s

This is a bad thing - I think not it means thet price of second hand ones will rise as well, so I may even be able to sell my PO for more than I paid for it :))

That said if you want to buy new then yes - but these days there are plenty of good examples available second hand especially Bond based Omegas. Yes you have to be careful but they are out there.

Of course if you want new as always you pay a price, but if you are looking at new Omeagas you are probably not that bothered about price anyway or you would not be looking.

Thanks have to say I always thought Speedy face was too busy for my liking. Then one day almost a year ago I was at a meeting in Germany when they had two Speedmasters from the local Omega store in a glass cabinet just as you walked out the lift. Needless to say they grew on me over that week and I was finally able to take the shot last week.

Add in the NASA link and hey its got some history what thet hell. Have to say like some here on another forum I found a dedicated dude who actually makes the NASA velcro straps to the same spec (materials and everything) as the originals including packaging and serial numbers etc. I was able to bag one before his current run ran out just as my Speedy arrived.

There are some seriously dedicated guys out there and full respect too them and thanks that they share it with the rest of us!

    Cheers :007)

Let me know how the negotiating goes. I might try it myself.

Hi guys, I would like to introduce the newest member of my Omega family...

A combination of a bit of patience, and taking Bond44's advice and giving Watch Finder a call, they have come up trumps for me. I've managed to get the watch I wanted for a very good price and I'm delighted.
Thanks for all of the hints and tips, without those I would have either paid more than I wanted to, or still would not have the watch!

    Excellent piece!

Did they move on their prices at all? They've got an old model planet ocean on there I'm looking at. Only problem is, the asking price I can get a deal on a new model for that money.

Thank you! I think I like it even more than I thought I would, if that is possible ha!
Yes, there is movement in their prices, but it pretty much depends on the popularity of the piece. For example, I was looking at a Breitling, and had enquired about that before mentioning I was after AT, and the discount I was able to get on that was significantly more than on the AT. They simply said that the ATs never hang around long, so they have no need to discount it as much as other pieces.
So you will get a discount, but if the PO you're looking at is a popular model, the discount may not be very big.

    Hope that helps!

I bought the skyfall AT, I felt the same it's even better on! Ok, I see, what's best to do? Call up and enquire or on the website, enquire about this watch?

Yeah mine is a Skyfall AT too, they are great, and a lot lighter on the wrist than my PO!
Well I initially submitted my enquiry online regarding the Breitling, and I got a response pretty fast both via email and via telephone. In my web enquiry I had mentioned the issue of whether anything could be done with the price, so when I did speak to somebody on the phone it wasn't quite as awkward. But thats just me, some people have no problem with just bringing these things up. If you don't ask, you don't get, right?
So it is up to you really, but you are going to have to speak to them at some point so that they can action a discount, so the quickest way to go about it is probably to give them a call.

I was sad to learn today Watchfinder will not take a credit card if you're in the States.
