I haven't ordered from Sunspel in a while, but I'm pretty sure there is no VAT removal in their checkout process either. N. Peal, however, does remove the 20% VAT fee. Not sure how that all works, but there must be some type of corporate structure that allows for this variation. I know that Herring Shoes used to remove the VAT in the check-out process, but now their site doesn't allow for this anymore, and the prices are all the same no matter where the item ships.

    Kind regards,
    Craig

EDIT: Paul beat me to the Sunspel bit.

Yup NPEAL is VAT free and Crocket Jones

I did challenge Sunspel about it (might have the email somewhere - it was quite a few years back). They claimed something along the lines of keeping postage cost down or some nonsense even though its a separate charge anyhow.

Others off the top of my head...

Orlebar Brown refund VAT only if you ask later (not done on checkout)
Herring Shoes sent my recent Church VAT free
Tom Ford Italy / UK - VAT Free

I always search for VAT free purchases to be honest and always miffed when the odd company does not offer it!!

I don't understand why these companies (including Charles Tyrwhitt) don't refund VAT. If I purchased the items on vacation in the UK I could get it refunded when returning to the States.

After a bit of complaining here is another response.

    Dear Bill,
Thank you for your email back.
I can confirm that this new pricing policy is not affective as of yet. This, however, will change within the next few weeks.
Please purchase your Ghost garment online now and you will not be charged tax. Please do bear in mind we cannot be held responsible for any customs charges incurred.

I do hope I have helped. Please let me know if you have any further questions.

    Many thanks,

    Louise Hart

So I suggest anyone thinking about ordering, do it now!

I have to give Louise at Ghost a big pat on the back to be fair.

My country is not in the drop down menu when checking out, I fired a quick email to her and she has had the IT team to add it within a day or so (though its now there though it still has a tech problem they are fixing for me). This is a common problem for me on many online stores and usually they all ignore my request as they simply cannot be arsed since its far to technical for them and easier to ignore me.

Isn't the Tom Ford polo without buttons? John Smedley's polo fits great:

    noah_navy_main_2.jpg

    https://www.johnsmedley.com/us/aw15-noah-in-navy

I did say it had buttons unlike the tom ford.

I do agree the smedley is more accurate and is a budget alternative, but for over £100 on a polo shirt, some may not consider that budget. I would also rather spend £80 on a sunspel Riviera. But that's personal preference.

This Polo t-shirt looks pretty much same Daniel Craig attired in QOS, is this Polo T-shirt is the same one Craig layred under his khaki outfit ??

I think that one was still the Sunspel with buttons and front pocket.

Thats correct but it was a Tom Ford version that looked same as Sunspel.

The SPECTRE one does not have collar buttons and has elasticated waist so very diff style

The other day they re-released some of the Avengers jackets (minus the tie-in extras) and they appeared without notice around the beginning of the afternoon, so I'm inclined to believe 4pm-ish would be correct.

Am planning a trip to the Hugo Boss outlet nevertheless just in case I'm lucky and the Gathuro happens to be available.

I've just spoken to someone in Italy, and he didn't know when exactly the jacket would be released. He said that they were waiting to hear from the warehouse, but it could be a couple of weeks....I still reckon that we should keep a close eye on the website, as he seemed a bit flaky. I wouldn't want to miss out

At possibly £1200 per coat and even with a run of 700, how many of you genuinely are fearful of missing out?

There are, what, a dozen ajbers hovering over this?
  • HatThrowingHenchmanHatThrowingHenchman Russia With LovePosts: 1,834MI6 Agent
    yes, maybe you are right but there are some people not registered on this board and still read along -{
but I always get excited :)

Yeah, there are plenty who ride on the research of ajb without actually joining just for their own benefit. And there always will be.

But even if a bunch of Cityboys dived in I don't see 700 flying off the shelf. And where is the benefit to Matchless to limit to 700, anyway????

Had an email from matchless HO today, they are waiting for product as forms part of Fall/winter range and seem to think it will be late Oct for the jacket.

Hmm contradicts all the Instagram dialogue this week from them. Unless they are taking pre-orders today??

yeah some of their decisions I don't understand, it's the same with the time it'll be released today, why don't they tell?

True, sure everybody here who wants one will end up getting one. Though I guess they appear to offer up to 7 diff sizes and also not sure if they are shipping them off around the world to dealers etc so guess certain sizes could become scarce. I will prob end up having to get two sizes after my Skyfall size experience :s (Levis - Large Barbour - XL Billy Reid XXL)

    Hey Paul

Matchless is great apparently st true sizing. As a guide I am L in Barbour, M in Levis and L in BR and JV. Defo L for me.

Having a tough time as my new boy is really poorly, so camped in the rvi newcastle. Keeping an eye on Matchless but if I miss out due to timing, if anyone multibuys sizes and has a L to return, id be really grateful to be given a chance. More pressing matters with my poorly wee man...

Here is the upcoming EMPIRE SPECTRE mag cover. Good look at the navy suit and Waltz looks to be wearing some sort of jacket also.
