Now that the Matchless Craig jackets are arriving, has anyone considered how they are going to keep them relatively clean as the suede looks very light.
Would it be worth applying a suede waterproofer to the jacket, does it mention anything on the care label, as it looks as if it could pick up colour from darker fabrics, denim etc?

Matchless would tell you not to touch it and that it's already treated. Although how much that stands up in real life is yet to be determined. Wonder what JB does to his in the movie.
Going by the photos only the Varvatos jacket does look superior and is a much better colour. Isn't it considerably cheaper as well?
The JV retails for US$798. The Craig Blouson (sounds like a male model from Zoolander) could be up to $550 more depending on your location. Possible customs fees would jack that up even more.
The Matchless would be a dirt magnet, I'd think. I had a Billy Reid jacket that color. One errant ball point pen and it was ruined the first day I had it.
The lining of the Matchless is quite plain, isn't it? The JV interior is a bit more fashion-y, but I like it more.
Agreed. From a costume design standpoint alone, it's rather repetitive to have two almost identical jackets worn by the same character, albeit different colors. But there are so many different types of jackets and cardigans, etc., surely they could have gone a different route. Makes sense for the London scenes as the weather is a bit colder and would necessitate a jacket, but I can't grasp wearing this jacket in Morocco (especially when you compare it to the short-sleeved dress that Madeleine is wearing in the same scene). Must be hot!
As for the numbering, I was really hoping we'd see something like what Belstaff did with the "War of the Worlds" Hero jacket that was produced during the Malenotti period of the company. They knocked it out of the park with that jacket, IMO. I'm baffled by the disconnect between Matchless' news feeds and what's actually being sold. They never released a newsletter either.
I'm due to take delivery of my Small and Medium on Friday evening, so I'll post some fit pics of them shortly thereafter. For anyone in the 38R-40R size, this should hopefully give you an idea of how these sizes fit.
Is it my imagination or does the Craig blouson look longer than then one on Daniel Craig on set. I expect it is. Again the back looks nice - something about that seam and I usually hate seams on the back !
BTW, the color of the jacket looks about 2 shades lighter than what's on the Matchless site, which is about another 2 shades lighter than what they posted on Instagram. 8-)
Regardless, still love the look though. I don't own any beige/tan jackets, so this will be a nice first!

£869 for Matchless if memory serves correct!
However some of us were lucky to get the JV on sale for a lot less
Prefer the look of the JV but not a fan of the sleeve zips

Why on Earth would anyone pay that when for a fraction more you get the real thing.
Large is 22"/56cm, and the Medium is 21"/53.5cm.
