welshboy78, that certainly does confirm it. On the teaser poster I could see the end of the left frogmouth pocket, and in the photo James Boldman posted above, you can see that there are no side pockets. Has anyone seen a high-resolution print of the teaser poster? It should be able to show more detail in the trousers' pattern.

I guess that is the key to identifying / searching for them then.

Like mglover92 I have found similar patterns however only side pockets. TF seems to be the only one that matches so far unless others find more

Matt is there a name for this "tick" type pattern? It's not a herringbone or crosshatch etc...

Well, that didn't take long. Someone has posted a JV Racer Jacket on eBay with an opening bid of $1299. :s 8-)

It's actually called a "tick" or "tic" pattern. The tweed Hilary Bray suit is a classic tick pattern on an even twill weave. These trousers are more complex that that, but the effect is a tick pattern. I'm going to study the close-up photos more later to figure out how they are woven. It's a very fine weave. Each tick appears to be made up of approximately 7 smaller ticks.

Its already been said above.. but worth repeating.. the customer service from JV is outstanding.. Called a JV store and they were out of mediums on the jackets.. But the salesperson took my number.. started making inquiries and tracked one down in a warehouse.. Called me back about an hour later.. Was able to snag it at the sale price..
  • Westward_DriftWestward_Drift Posts: 3,113MI6 Agent
MFisher I agree wholeheartedly. JV customer service has been terrific. Glad to hear that the sale price is still in effect.

One of my JV jackets is sitting at home waiting for me to get off work. Will report later with pics.

Looking at it up close I think it is woven in a fairly complex twill or barathea weave. I would actually need to have the cloth and put it under a microscope to know for sure (something I've done with some of the costume cards).

I think I've come up with the weave for the tic pattern trousers based on high resolution that HalfHitman HalfMonk posted. It's as close as I think I can get without having the cloth in front of me.

Fascinating stuff, Matt! Glad I could help at all; your blog is an endless source of entertainment for me.

I saw the JV jacket at a Nordstrom in New Jersey today. They only had the one, it was XXL, and it was NOT discounted at all.

    Matt, I'm not sure what impresses me more, your quick analysis of the fabric pattern or the speed in which you made the graphic. -{

My JV jacket arrived today. I can also confirm the Nordstrom jacket does have all the seams. I really am digging this jacket. Very cool and stylish if you ask me.

It actually wasn't as complicated as I thought. I've developed a system for making these so I was able to do this one in under half an hour.

Looking good! I have worn my JV jacket out twice now and both times got compliments from people who had no idea about the Bond connection. It's a minimalist design but very smart. The photos don't do it justice.

Thanks guys. I really like it. I want to wear it today with just a t shirt and jeans. It's it the upper 70s though. But hey I might still do it haha!

For me they have to be zipped up. I tried them half way zipped and it was still a little big in the sleeve.

There were a number of all sizes also available on Hautelook (owned by Nordstroms) this morning, selling for $370! They sold out before I even logged in. If you're in the States, keep an eye on Nordstrom's Rack - the outlet equivalent for Nordstroms. I'm sure a few will surface there as remaining unsold jackets (if there are any) will pop up there, as well as those who return a jacket to Nordstroms.

    Kind regards,
    Craig
