I understand that the 2nd edition of Peter Vollmer's book entitled PER FINE OUNCE, with actual excerpts from the original 007 James Bond version as written by Geoffrey Jenkins, has now been re-published.
It seems the grammatical etc. issues have now all been sorted out now, so nothing got lost in translation this time, and this re-edited version of PER FINE OUNCE by Mr. Vollmer is an a fast-paced, exciting novel to read.
There is also more interesting background to the history of the "missing Bond novel" and an interview with the author Peter Vollmer talking about his own books and explaining how he was granted access and permission to publish excerpts from the original version of PER FINE OUNCE on the Literary007 website.

A fourth short story, titled "The Heart of Erzulie", was written by Raymond Benson in-between Never Dream of Dying and The Man with the Red Tattoo, however, it was never published because Ian Fleming Publications felt it was "too much of a Fleming pastiche." Benson, himself, acknowledges that it was little more than a time-killer in the interim between the two book projects.

I had a similar experience when I looked about a year ago. I confess I haven't tried again since, but it's obviously not easy to find.

Apparently the last edition included pages from the original Jenkins manuscript. I'm wondering if Vollmer and Acorn Books never secured permission from Glidrose to include that excerpt, and Glidrose threatened legal action. In the interviews that I've read with Vollmer, he emphasizes that he had the permission of Jenkins' estate but never mentions Glidrose.
Or it could be that the book was taken out of circulation because of the numerous complaints about the editing (misspellings, grammatical errors). If so, it seems like an unusually long time to do a polish for a new edition.

Yes, I've heard that it had to do with all of the errors in the first edition. Those excerpts from PFO were taken from Jeremy Duns' article in KKBB Magazine in 2005, so I would doubt that Glidrose pulled the plug on it for that reason.

I love Bond doing a bit of climbing and it would be great to see again on screen.
