I do prefer Tamahori to Forster as a Bond director because I think Tamahori did a better job directing action sequences.
Forster's handling of the action in QoS is one of my main issues with that movie. He's most likely my least fave Bond director.

Don't get me wrong, Tamahori is by no means my fave Bond director, but I easily prefer him to Forster.
Forster is just mediocre at directing action imo, he barely gets away with making some entertaining action in QoS, but it was generally a sloppy job as far as I'm concerned.
I'm glad that Mendes came in after that, he really tops both Tamahori and Forster for me.

Nah, Forster is a better action movie director, Tamahori just has a slicker style.
The editing is really the problem more than Forster's directing, but the editing would also have been done at his direction, right? Forster never did an action film before, and action wasn't his thing. He is a great director, but he didn't bring his talents to Bond. He left his great directing experience at the door and made QoS like he had never made a film before. But Forster didn't turn his Bond film into a cartoon like Tamahori did.
It all depends on what the viewer prefers of course, and to me chopping up action sequences is a bigger offense than turning Bond into a cartoon.
I'm sure many others think otherwise, so it all comes down to preference.

-Great PTS.
-Toby Stephens gives a solid performance as Graves.
-Fun action, especially the car chase between Bond and Zao.
-One of Brosnan's best performances as Bond, if not his best.
-Halle Berry is enjoyable as Jinx.
-Zao is a tough henchman, and quite memorable. He's no Red Grant, Oddjob, Dario, or Jaws, but he does the job well enough.
-Rosamund Pike is great as Miranda Frost.
-While the heavy use of references to previous Bond films can annoy some people, it doesn't really bother me.
Cons:
-Some cheesy lines.
-The film has a cartoonish feel.
-The "Time to face gravity!" line, although well delivered, is inappropiate for the moment in which it is said.
Overall, I like DAD, and give it an 8/10.

Completely true. Directing a Bond movie requires specific skills. It's not good enough to be a good director, or even a great director to make a good Bond movie. I really wish Tarantino was allowed a shot!

Tarantino is one of my fave directors, but I think he has too much originality to direct a Bond film.
I think James Cameron could do it though.

Exactly, WHERE in this scene does Tamahori get a good performance with the actors?

- First half of the film, until Iceland
- Pierce's performance - although he looks a stale/out-of-place at times
- Judi Dench
- John Cleese as R - I don't mind him and I think it works well (briefly)
- Aston Martin
- Gustav Graves - brilliantly played and very funny
- Madonna's title song and remix version on end-credits
- Arnold's soundtrack
Cons:
- Iceland on...
- OTT ham acting by many including Zhao, Korean guys
- Terrible one-liners
- Like TND - gets confused between Bond film and action film
- Dodgy editing and annoying slow-mo/sped-up scenes
- Special effects are awful
- Daniel Kleinman's titles haven't aged well
- Jinx is terrible so is her lame, slo-mo Baywatch style intro
- Zhao's diamonds in the face, I'm sure they could've been removed
- The film at times feels like an N'Sync music video
Overall:
I did enjoy watching DAD, but not as a Bond film. Like TND, it's a pretty good disposable action film but overall as a Bond film it's pretty rubbish. The first half is surprisingly solid and quite original - it's a real shame that it just turns into a terrible mess. Although there are plenty of clues in the beginning as to where it is going to head.
To me I find Pierce's performance pretty solid - but at times he looks a bit out of place and not totally comfortable. While his acting is good - his presence isn't as good as his other three.
I think they did a good job at creating a popcorn action flick, and it did make boatloads of money - but they did a poor job at creating something for the legacy of Bond. I'm glad they cleaned up their act in Casino Royale. A bad return to crap (TND) from the high point of TWINE.
would you care to explain your point about Kleinman's titles?
I used to think they looked quite good, but the CGI in them hasn't aged as well as his earlier 3 entries. I find with the narrative in it (which is a good addition) that it doesn't flow as well and doesn't match the music.
I love Kleinman's title work overall, but I think DAD and TND are his weakest efforts.

So how about the body swap nonsense
