First half is actually a great Bond film. Gets a little hokey in the second half. CGI is a valid complaint. But many Bond go over the top yet don't get so much hate.
Let a Bond cone out now with a bad henchman who can kill you with his hat. See how that settles in.

Being over-the-top isn't a problem I have, it's just poorly done. It's not directed well, the script is terrible, and the over-the-top things just aren't good.

IMHO the only REALLY poorly done OTT moment is the disgusting Moneypenny VR bit; the rest is standard MR-type nonsense, and better done at that.

Don't agree at all.
It isn't MR type nonsense because at least MR still maintains a level of class and even though it's in space - feels like a Bond film.
DAD is a good action film and a rubbish Bond film.
I don't mean to criticise MR at all, but DAD is one of the classiest Bond movies. An ice palace is classy; diamonds are classy, and Jinx is the classiest Bong girl of them all! -{

^ That's a perfect example of where the film is so wrong. They try make Jinx's character like something from Charlie's Angels. IMO, all of this other crap going on makes Pierce's performance confused.

I can appreciate DAD can be great fun as an out there, over the top Bond film. But classy is not the word I would use to describe it. Any class the film might have is ruined by a script full of the most embarrassing innuendo and the awful Moneypenny virtual reality scene.

There's no accounting for taste... Watched it recently, and somehow missed "all of this other crap". A car with adaptive camouflage, even John Cleese as the new Q. Great fun, and a great Bond.
+1. There are faults with DAD (there are faults in any Bond movie, heck there are faults in any movie) but Brosnan's performance isn't one of them.
No offence but
with any film you can highlight the dreadful bits along with the good bits
But....with Die another Day..
you can highlight the good bits.....among all the dreadful bits...which are far more numerous
None taken, bs, and I agree to an extent (though we may not agree on which are the dreadful bits- Madonna, the CGI, Madonna, certain lines, Madonna...). Just defending Brosnan who IMO gives a good performance, though he was even better in the preceding film.
Toby Stephens is a very good and underrated Bond villain. If you switch your brain off that he isn't supposed to be serious, his performance takes you for a wild ride!
"You see Mr. Bond, you can't kill my dreams. But my dreams can kill you."
It was probably my least favourite Bond song at the time of release. I almost hated it. I watched the movie on Blu-ray recently and thought that the song was very good at least. Is it possible Madonna was ahead of the time by over a decade?

This feeling that Madonna's song is actually quite good must be catching. I watched DAD the other week and found myself rather enjoying the theme tune...... Then again I watched it just after QOS and most things sound great after AWTD!
) Yes, I think many of us have now reached the point of making
a noise, getting in or out of a chair. infact I've reached the point
That if I'm upstairs, I'll quickly use the toilet. As it will save a trip
Later ! )

Yes indeed, not forgetting Rosamund Pike.... Also sword fight is great.

I agree with heartbroken_mr_drax in that MR maintains a level of class. And that line just shows what a classy guy Jaws was -{

Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!

I don't hate Madonna's song, but I prefer the dance version played at
the end.

Risky business.
Not since I bought this reclining chair TP. By the time I get myself out of it, the song would be finished and the film would have started.
