Saw this a 3rd time yesterday. Pretty much have the same opinion on my second viewing.
It's a fun action film. A lot of it is same Bond formula crap. A lot of it is also really entertaining. It has an interesting political concept and has a message to send, but doesn't do it well. It's like a 6/10 to me. The positive side of average.
I think I topped 100x in the 80s, once Betamax and then VHS made it available for unlimited viewing. I know I saw it 20x in the cinema.
Holy crap! I topped out with Enter The Dragon & Star Wars in cinema at about 50 each, no other films have come close, but once VHS & CED came into play, DAF got a SERIOUS workout... :v
Still, 100X???

Did movies back then stay in the cinema longer? I know today they stop playing after like 4-6 months, but since there was no DVD, did they re-run older movies?
In this case, it is probably an age thing (though I absolutely deny that in the case of music- I'm a pro musician, music is my life, and I have an open mind where that is concerned).
You have to put yourself in the place of a teenager in the 70s who fell in love with the James Bond movies before the age of videos, DVDs, Blu-Rays etc. A big film (and of course the Bonds qualify) would show in the big city (in my case Glasgow) for several weeks before moving to the big town (Paisley) then the small town (Barrhead) initially for a full week then only for Thurs-Fri-Sat. Later it would be revived on a double bill (IIRC first with "Gold", directed by Peter Hunt & starring Roger Moore so no hardship) then a Bond double bill (again, IIRC with FRWL)....
So I caught DAF every time, once not leaving the cinema and watching all the showings. Easily 20x.
I bought the video on Betamax, then again on VHS, then again on DVD, then the special edition, then the Ultimate Edition... you get the idea.
This just applies to DAF (don't get me started on the others), which although I love it enormously isn't even my favourite Bond film. As may have been noticed, I don't get involved in the ranking threads but I'm going to admit here that it's probably TB, which I have seen even more times than DAF.
) Of course before that we used wax cylinders.
Although Cinema attendance is way down, from the 60s or 70s.
Jaws stayed at #1 for the entire summer season, these days even the
Expected block buster, only holds the spot for a couple of weeks. Also
Because of films being released on DVD / Bluray, soon after. You don't
Have to watch it nine or ten times at the cinema, as you'd have to wait
For five to seven years before it would come to TV )
"I've been informed that there ARE a couple of QAnon supporters who are fairly regular posters in AJB."
In the 70's/early 80's Star Wars kept getting re-released, and there was a theatre in NYC that played Enter The Dragon continuously for YEARS double-featuring it with other Warner Brothers releases (Capricorn One for a LONG time), so that's why those particular two got such a rack-up of viewings... in the 70's classic Bond triple features got a lot of play near where I lived, and I stormed the cinema each time it happened for multiple viewings... but they never played them for more than a month. I had Bond movies on audio cassette that I covertly recorded in the theatres, as well as other films.
Definitely.
For the record, GF was my most listened-to audio... man, Barry really hit it out of the park with that one. Only DAF & TLD can compete in my mind with that... (sorry MR fans). )
Would recording the films on a tape recorder ( audio) then listening to them
In you bedroom at night, still count as a viewing ? )
Guilty as charged.
And I thought that I was the only one.
I hated the guys opening chips bags etc. Because they where ruining the movie for me.
I remember that I had to do OHMSS twice because some kids next to me did not stop putting silly comments during the show

However, TND averages out to just over 2 per year, sounds right.

Seriously!
I'm young though. No doubt by the time I'm 50, I probably would have seen most of the films like 40 times each too.

Oh, you did that as well? ) ) ) I did, in the days before you could video them off the TV- but you of course are too young to remember that TP....
