I always like it when Bond makes that remark about no one being stupid enough to take Sanchez on his own and Sanchez just lets out the heartiest laugh. I think it adds another layer to his character.
Have you ever heard of the Emancipation Proclamation?"

Sanchez is one of my favourite villains. Brilliantly played by Davi. He doesn't seem to get the recognition he deserves. Maybe it's because he has no scar, metal hands, has no bullet lodged in his brain, eye patch, metal teeth or third nipple. He is the perfect foil to Dalton's Bond and I find him to be very menacing because he is completely believable.

It's more down to the film rather than the acting that Davi doesn't get as much recognition. He is bloody good in it and it was this film that won me back over into the series as before I was more of a literary Bond fan.

Why doesn't Robert Davi get more accolades?

The scene where he comes in and tells them that the meeting of the Wavekrest went well

    Bond: "Only one was involved"

He digests this information - mind spilling with new possibilities.

    Seriously, this guy is good

Davi is fantastic in all those, but I think LTK is the best role I've seen him in. Though LTK is not one of my favourite Bond films, Sanchez is one of my favourite villains due to the way Davi plays him. He's one of the most complex villains of the series. Even though he's one of the most cruel villains, he is thoroughly believable.

Pam Bouvier could make my Top 10 BGs.
I love Pam, easily my favorite BG in the franchise. I've had such a huge crush on her for years; she's clever, fiery, tough and has a body that just won't quit. I mean, dear lord, those legs!

I also love that she saves Bond, not once, not twice... but three times! She more or less acts as his guardian angel throughout the second act of the movie, which is a great reversal of the usual dynamic. And her tsk-tsk-tsk at Bond's "piece" is one of my favorite moments, cracks me up every time.

I love the script for Licence to Kill but the script is very Americanised.

I love Bond spitting out the accusations to Hawkins while Felix lies in bed. Dalton just keeps his anger in check..

Her acting was excellent, her physical disposition even more so... but a little training in martial arts would have had her moving a little more cat-like (think Michelle Yeoh).

I do wish Dalton had had more Bond films (as many do), but, subjectively, I'd say this was a pretty solid sendoff.

Just finished seeing this one yesterday, the only Bond film I had not seen up to this point.

I think it has some very strong points, but some things in the film simply burry it down for it to be a truly great Bond film. Quantum of Solace, for being a revenge Bond film is better in my opinion.

Sanchez strikes me as very much being based on Pablo Escobar, which I guess makes sense.

I easily prefer LtK to QoS, but then again, I like Dalton more than Craig as 007.

    I agree.

But I also think Dalton brought a lot more depth to the role than Craig has.

    I'd say it like this:

What Craig did in the entirety of QoS, Dalton could get done with one quote from LtK.

Craig has his moments, but Dalton was a beast.

    But that's just my perspective.

While he's not my favourite Bond, I think he's the most talented actor to have ever played Bond. I don't think any other Bond actor could have done LTK so well. Brosnan and Craig could have done different parts of the films very well.

Franz Sanchez: You could have had everything.

James Bond: Don't you want to know why?

It's funny Sanchez always go on about loyalty. Then he doesn't understand why Bond is doing what he's doing.

Additionally, many of the concepts in QoS are borrowed from LTK, for e.g.:

    a) Bond's friend get killed (Mathis vs. Leiter's wife + Leiter almost rescued from death)
    b) Bond's female allies are turned in to secretaries (Fields vs. Bouvier)
    c) The Bouvier + Lamora characters have been reversed with Fields acting more like Lamora, and Camille more like Bouvier (tough). Both Lamora and Camille are working against the villain
    d) Latin America theme

Fields isn't turned into a secretary. She just works a desk job in Bolivia and succumbs to Bond's charms. And Fields isn't anything like Lupe. Camille has Pam's toughness with Lupe's revenge motives. I don't really see what Fields has in common with either woman from LTK. She's a much simpler character than either from LTK.

True. However, I was referring to Bond using Fields as a secretary. After Bond switches the hotel, in the room, he asks Fields to get some papers or something to that order implying a secretary's role for Fields (vs. someone responsible for sending him back). In LTK, Bond is actually paying Bouvier for her services and also introduces her as his secretary, which Bouvier does not appreciate.

Fields working with MI6 can be compared with Bouvier working for CIA. However, Fields character in QoS is more like Lamora's character in LTK in a way that both are relatively soft. While Bouvier was tough much like Camille. It is as if the film makers thought what if Lamora was tougher (ass kicking) in LTK, and Bouvier was relatively soft. And they made the change in QoS. Another change is that Fields dies reminding us of Masterson's death in GF.

You're really stretching to compare Fields to the girls in LTK. Bond asks fields to help him find the stationery as a way to get her into the bedroom to sleep with her, since stationery is a typical thing one finds in a hotel room. That's hardly treating her as a secretary. Lupe and Fields have very different personalities.

Let's agree to disagree :D .... Btw, I am comparing both the girls not just Fields .... Based on your way to seeing "patterns", we may end up discovering that all Bonds films are unique with nothing borrowed from the past. And, in a way every character, is unique :p
