There's not a three-year gap between FRWL and TB. There's a year in between, with GF. They aren't prequels. Plus, the gap makes sense considering how long it took SPECTRE to plan their operation. Angelo spent 2 years preparing.
I hadn't even considered leaving FRwL's setting in its release year because of the direct connections between it and DN, but what you've told me does make sense and helps to better rationalize the gap between FRwL and TB.

Yes, the styling of the Ford Mustang: it didn't look like this before 1971.
Also, the Triumph Stag (as driven by Peter Franks) was introduced between OHMSS and DAF.

A synopsis I read of the "cold open" sequence of DaF has me convinced that it's meant to be a direct result of Blofeld's involvement in Tracy's death, even if there's no overt indications of that in the sequence itself, and I was trying to work out how to make it work without there being a two-year gap between the two sequences (OHMSS' ending and DaF's beginning).
However, if Bond had been on leave, there's no need to try and rationalize the films being closer in proximity.

Like I said in the edit I made to my last comment, Bond being on leave (a factor I hadn't been aware of) does provide the rationalization I was looking for to explain why there's a gap between OHMSS' ending and DaF's "cold open" beginning.
^ I was planning on waiting to finish the film before giving any specific thoughts on it, but since you asked, I really like Domino; she reminds me a little bit of Honey Ryder, as well as Vesper and Camille.
The scene where Bond goes and plays cards with Largo also heavily reminds me of the first couple of card-playing sequences from Casino Royale, and is really the first card-playing scene in the Old!Bond Continuity that has done so.
I hadn't even noticed the dating thing on the picture of Domino and her brother, which is why I said there wasn't any overt indicators as to when it takes place.
It's unrealistic to believe that Bond is an 'ageless' character in the pre-Craig films when certain of said films contain defined dating (two examples being Tracy Bond's birth and death years - 1943 and 1969, respectively - and Paris Carver's birth year - 1969).
On my earlier post, you said Connery to Dalton were one continuity, so are you suggesting that Bond (Connery's being born in say 1930) had a relationship with Paris (born in 1969)? Yet were clearly around the same age when they met again?

That does create a 'wrinkle' I hadn't considered, and there's not really any way to rationalize it away.
However, it's not unheard-of for there to be a few things in any long-running franchise that don't match up even when the films in said franchise are meant to occupy a single largely continuous reality.

DN was released in late 1962, so even 6 months after that would be 1963. The first seen we see Bond looks like springtime.
