Whenever someone has finished a Bond film, they don't want to do another. It's just so exhausting that they can't imagine at that moment doing it again. They need time to rest. Barbara and Michael are the only people who always want to do another because Bond is their life. Everyone else who works on the Bond films does a lot of other things.

What a humbling interview , thanks revolver for posting.
Craig came across very satisfied , content and actually a great bloke to have a pint with.
Alarm bells are ringing there , it was almost like a goodbye interview i've taken it as far as i can and now wish to live my life.
I do hope not if he did 1 more as contracted i'd be happy. up to you barb
I think as Matt S, pointed out that most actors after filming a Bond
All seem to give interviews as if it would be their last. I guess they're tired
and don't want to think about starting another one.

Agree but that interview does smell of DC saying no , I'm sure barb will let him walk away or buy out.
She won't force him I don't reckon.
All depends on the success of Spectre and then we will know as you rightly said
Unlike any of the previous actors, DC has been allowed loads
of input into the Movies, in script direction, choice of directors.
So he may infact be more " Invested" in the franchise, than those
who went before, and therefore might have a much harder time
trying to leave. As it's not just a " take the money and run" gig.
I'm sure he will leave at some point, but I do think he'll do at least
One more. Although, that's just a guess on my part .

Remember how much Mendes said he didn't want to do another? And then he came back.
I think his Contract is open ended ? On the Subject of Elba, without dragging this tired old Argument up again, I really don't see him becoming Bond.

To me Idris makes no sense , he's pushing it and probably would do 2 at the most.
Then start again , Eon prefer to have a long turn contract with at least a 3 year deal.
Idris to me would be too old especially now as Bond is likely to be a 3 year gap between each film
Bond should be about 35ish for his 1st .
Just my 2 pennies worth
I wouldn't jump to any conclusions based upon that interview. A Bond film is a massive undertaking. All involved must be pretty exhausted. It wasn't long ago that Michael Wilson said he needed a break. What is important is how Craig feels a year from when all his Bond post production responsibilities are over and EON approaches him with ideas for the Bond 25 and the creative juices start flowing and how nice it will be to bank millions once again (remember while DC is paid handsomely by EON he also makes a fortune in product endorsements).

Exactly. People say things they don't mean when they are exhausted. When it comes time to think about the next film, Craig will be in a different state of mind. He doesn't have much planned for the future. He'll be bored and agree to do another Bond film.
Apart from the Stage Play he was in, Craig hasn't done a huge lot between SF and SP.
Yeah. Most actors move on because they want to do something else. If Craig had other things he wanted to do, I would believe him more when he said he couldn't conceive doing another Bond film. I wish they would tone down the physicality of the Bond films, not to make it easier for Craig but to bring it back to Fleming and the old films.

But your standards would have made Moore, Dalton and Brosnan ineligible.
Idris is aging quite well though. I've seen pictures and interviews of many of the other British actors oft mentioned for the Bond ; most of them (sans Owen) look boyish and dainty.

Bond has changed a lot since Moore and Dalton. Bond could be older then because the stunts either weren't as tough or they could more easily get away with stuntmen for the types of stunts they did. They also made Bond films more frequently then. With the way the world works now, I can't imagine they're going to go back to making them every other year. When Daniel makes his fifth film, likely in three years, Moore had made seven films in that same amount of time. And Daniel Craig is already looking old.
I know this post may be a little ranty, but I'm thoroughly sick of all the media hype regarding Craig's replacement and the future of the series post-Spectre. I mean, the cameras haven't even finished on Spectre yet, Craig is still contracted for a 5th film after Spectre's release, and the main focus of the media is on his replacement and not the upcoming Bond film. Now I enjoy the Bond actor speculation game as much as many other fans do, and there is nothing wrong with posting suggestions and chatting about possible replacements. However, considering how Craig is under contract for another film, and is very much our current 007, I find it a little disrespectful on the media's behalf to be indulging in this topic so much. It's almost as if they're trying to get EON to show him the door.
Anywho have a look at this article, I think it really sums it up well, and it's nice to see a media outlet criticize this media trend.
It's mostly just to have something to talk about, but at the same time, because the production side is so slow, it has been 10 years since Craig was announced as Bond. by now, he should have made 5 or 6 films instead of only 4.
I think their policy of a film every three years has worked wonders on the series. In fact, the only one that didn't follow that, QoS, is the worst Craig film. One year more pre-production means they have a rock solid script when they shoot, and it shows. If Craig does four in the end, fine. If SPECTRE is as big as it appears it will be, he will do a 5th, and leave it at the top when he's 49-50 years old, after an amazing 12 year tenure. Just as Moore's, but with better quality overall and not ageing the character so much.

How do you explain DAD after a 3 year gap? I think the 4 year gaps were too much.
From the way Craig is aging, he probably won't look much different than Moore in OP in three years time.

Craig is in much better overall physical condition than Moore, who looked like a delicate old man in his last three films. And while I agree that he is looking older, he doesn't look any older than he did three years ago in Skyfall.

Simple. Apples and oranges. The Brosnan years weren't good, 2, 3 or 5 years in between films. For Connery, one year was enough to pull off a new classic. Everything was new and fresh, the stories were by Fleming...It was easier back then.
As long as Craig stays in good shape, he'll look the part. Moore was 55 in OP, 5 years older than my suggested Craig "retirement" age.

What I've gathered from this interview is that Craig is more at peace with Bond than any other actor to have played him aside from Roger Moore.
Craig said he can't conceive of doing another one, but will leave the door open.
That would leave him retiring within his prime and it would mean Idris Elba wouldn't be too old.

Idris Elba damning damned as 'too street' by Mr Horowicz..
(shakes head) Its not as if he has the role...
