At the mo, I am reading The Last Expedition - Captain Scotts journals from Antartica, Thunderbirds The Vault, and The Star Trek Chronology (first edition.)
I never seem to be able to just read one book over a timeframe!
Must pick up where I left off with the LOTR Triology too.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
I just finished Casino Royale and LALD, but I take a quick pass from the Fleming novels to read Trigger Mortis. I'm enjoying it TM, although I just started it's already better dan Solo imo.
I've read Trigger Mortis and it was good set in1957. (a bit like Moonraker.)
I'm now reading the latest Jack Reacher book by Lee Child called Make Me.
It's good- but I've read all the 19 others- so the story formula can be similar.
I just finished You Only Live Twice that I found excellent but also a bit sad.
I haven't read the Bond (Fleming) novels in order but not to worry. I still have four (OHMSS, GF, TSWLM and TMWTGG) to go for completion but unsure about the last two from the reviews I've read.
As for the short stories, I thought The Hildebrand Rarity was the pick of them.
After the Bond (Fleming) novels, Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy will be next.

OHMSS I think will make you feel more sad. It did for me anyways.
"Sic Parvis Magna"
"Greatness From Small Beginnings."
Just started Blood and Ashes by M Loeffelholz. Just the first chapter so far
but very impressive, good plot outlay and how a certain character is dealt with
is funny and effective. -{

Persuader - a Jack Reacher book - I'm reading them in order of publication, I think this is #7 - I like Reacher he's a good character and Lee Child's writing and plotting improve from book to book.
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

I'm reading The Spy Paramount by E. Phillips Oppenheim Published in 1935 originally- the blurb on the back made me grab it as it really is as good as it sounds.
Part of the blurb states:
This classic thriller - undoubtedly an influence on Ian Fleming's James Bond novels - now published for the first time since the 1930s. With its yachts and cocktail parties, it's steely hero and brutal assassins, and it's cinematic range across the cities of Europe, this is a gripping and sophisticated tale of a spy who saves the world.

Thank you for bringing that to our attention, scaramanga1! That sounds very much like a book that I need to add to the collection. -{

As I have a stunning Fleming box for a while (incl. Colonel Sun) I started to read the books. Not very quick, but I started Moonraker last week. CR and LALD were both great. Before I started MR I saw the film, I did really like it, but as I heard the book is way different, I'm getting very excited!
Don't confuse me with the other DutchBondFan, but be sure to follow his YouTube account. You can read my articles on James Bond Nederland: www.jamesbond.nl/author/gosse/

I love that box. Brilliant. I am a little jealous because my own Fleming novels are looking a bit shabby. I might look for something similar to your set of novels. As Christmas is just round the corner I may have to drop some subtle hints to my family or more realistically buy it myself. I hope you enjoy Moonraker, it was one of my favourites. Completely different to the film. -{
Ive just finished reading THUNDERBALL,took it on holiday with me. Ive read DN FRWL ,so TB seemed a good choice of holiday reading .Now its no point telling you guys the story ,but I was a bit confused ,I put that down to the scotch and sodas Bond drunk in the book ,so good idea to follow suit ,confusion was ,early in the book ,the balloon goes up ,and all the agents are called in for a Thunderball briefing about the 2 bombs being stolen ,then later on it goes into detail of how the bombs are stolen in a live time frame sort of way .Now as I said it called be too much sun ,one too many scotch and sodas ,but it seemed a bit back to front to me . The book how ever was fantastic ,Fleming must have been a very knowledgeable man on many subjects ,and this comes across very well in his description of events ,for instance his description of the sea bed in Nassau is bang on ,having dived there myself .
A great read .Moonraker or Goldfinger next hmmm ??
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

I don't have Casino Royale or Live and Let Die in this format. Though I've just typed them in on eBay and I can get the both of them for under £10.
