Bond backlash.

The trailer suggests that Craig's bond will continue something of a return to "classic" bond - a trend started in earnest in skyfall.

So - given that critics of all types have been falling over themselves to love bond since casino royals I just wonder if we're about to see the start of the bond backlash - eg dan Craig is too old / it's all old-fashioned / it's sexist etc - irrespective of how good the film actually is

Maybe not but it's always interesting to watch the trends of whether liking bond is cool

When CR came out the trend was gritty and serious movies such as Bourne. Now we see jokey and colourful spy movies such as Kingsman, MI:5 and The Man from UNCLE.

True. But in 2006 the franchise did not have the momentum it has now, with Craig established as one of the best Bonds ever. I would say that momentum alone will carry over the Bond movies for a while. If they manage to tell the Spectre story in a compelling way, they don't have to worry about colorful spy movies.

Other spy movies will come and go, while Bond continues forever ! :D

As long as Bond can maintain a tone that hovers around CR and SF and tell gripping and exciting stories things should be fine. The likes of UNCLE, Kingsman and MI aren't even tge same league as Bond. There's a reason why the MI movies are released on average every 5 years and why UNCLE and Kingsman are new cinematic properties. These properties aren't even Bond's competition. Just wait until next year when Damon and Green grass come out with the bew Bourne film and watch how people will be going nuts for it. The way I see it and this is a good thing, Bond needs Bourne in this day a d age to be kept on the right path and not succumb to laziness and colourful, lightweight film making.

Oh good. Will it return to the days of bond bashing like the previous films? God curse, Greengrass and Damon...

D.C. keeps getting asked by the press who will replace him as bond. Here is his reply "Why would you ask me something like that? How the F*** should I know, Get the F*** out of here!" I agree with him. It is very rude even when bond fans do it. D.C. is not going to be replaced by Idris Elba - a man that's only 2 years younger than him. Brosnand never got that ****, and D.C. is better. Yes he is very wrinkly in the face, but the dude is jacked, ripped. The most physically fit bond we've had. Whoever replaces him is someone way under the radar and who is in all likelihood in their late 20s right now

I agree, that is a rather rude question, he's just right to tell them
    to F**k off.

They run out of questions as they cant get any stories about Spectre..

But its gonna get worse when Spectre appears. I think we should run a competition of who gets the worse interview. My suggestion is 'The One Show'..

What do you think? Have an award for who does the worst interview?

I cant wait to see him on Graham Norton...

I think the funniest interview will be on Graham Norton, Daniel seemed
Very relaxed the last time he was on. :D

It will probably be on Aussie or american TV
An interviewer who just sees the film and concentrates on his swimming trunks

This Morning or 'Good Morning Britain' as it is known always does bad interviews.

:)) There are a few AJBers who do nothing else but concentrate on
    Daniel's swimming trunks ! ;)
Agreed about " This Morning" , most of these shows I regard as amateur
    Television. ;)

Lets put this all in the proper prespective: MI and Man From Uncle were originally US TV series that were essentially capitalizing on the success of the Bond films and for all intents and purposes like the absurd Bond rip-off films that came out of Europe in the 60's. While those shows (especially MI) had very good production values, casting, writing, etc and even some iconology and originality (again in the case of MI) they never exist if there are no Bond films. I think this is lost on many who are too young to remember that era and are not aware that those films were based upon TV series. Kingsmen, which I found to be entertaining, is basically a Bond parody taken to another level with an injection of cartoonish CGI'ed ultra violence and sex. Bond is Bond, the rest are just his bastard children.
