My theory is Blofeld escapes, Bond goes to. Cyprus to get him ,Bond is captured held hostage ,puts on weight and gets his head shaved
By the way, did I tell you, I was "Mad"?

could be an early scene shoot of him 'happy' (i.e fatter) with his wife before getting into shape for the Revenge mission!

He has good genetics so if he hits the gym for 6 plus months and has a clean diet he will look like he did in Spectre... You can totally tell he has gained weight in the last year as he has probably just been relaxing and enjoying life... I remember reading he enjoys Guinness and Red Wine... pack on some good food with that and that will bring in the pounds...They are also a year away from shooting Bond 25 so he has plenty of time to slim down.

Looks like he’s been smoking, drinking, and eating without care.

That irony of that is it perfectly describes the character of James Bond ;)

    “Do you excercise?”
    “Only when I have to”
“How much alcohol do you consume?”
    “Too much”

:)) It does indeed, Thunderball starts with bond looking in the mirror with a hangover and cutting himself shaving, hating his reflection.

Very true. You have to remember that he has been "off from work" for about a couple of years now and most likely been taking it easy. I'm sure that months of filming, especially an action movie in which he does a lot of his own stunt work can be quite physically taxing. Then throw in the workouts and training leading up to the start of filming.

Plus it shows us that even those in Hollyweird, like the rest of us, don't always look their best. Since they usually will have the benefit of makeup, good lighting, good camera angles and that ol' Hollywood magic to make them look the way they do on screen. Of course some can pretty much roll out of bed and look amazing but they are the rare exception.

I don't know how many times I've seen pictures of celebrities out in the "real world" and thought "how in the hell are they in movies, TV, or thought of as hot, etc". So it's not just about looks, a lot of film /TV stars also have that elusive quality, that " X factor " which makes them connect with people.
Some people are lucky enough to possess it. Take for instance on this site there is a member that comes to mind who has that engaging quality: Our esteemed member David Z, aka The mantis. Hence his successful vlog and other projects were he has been in front of the camera.

Now I don't mean to suggest that DC or DZ for that matter isn't good looking / handsome because well they are, I just mean that actors / celebrities can and do look, for the lack of a better word - normal.

These are all valid points. I guess I would have just preferred a younger, hungrier actor in the role, much ike Craig in CR juxtaposed with Pierce in DAD (and I thought Pierce was good in Dad). In Spectre I started to feel like Craig had aged out of the role. These recent pictures basically confirm it. I just can’t shake the feeling that this is DAF/AVTAK all over again. EON riding a clearly-past-his-prime lead for one film too many because they aren’t sure what else to do.

I know what you mean and I hate to say it but I have to agree with you. Now as I've said I'm a huge DC fan and after seeing him in CR in all of his buff, ass kicking, bad assery it has become a bit depressing to see him age. I realize that it has been 10+ years since CR and we all age, heck I know that I'm certainly not immune to it but it is hard to see actors who you see in a particular movie or role change or age.
Maybe part of it is that it's a grim reminder of the hands of time ticking away. (Cue the Pink Floyd song Time).

Unfortunately the sands of time wait for no one - good to see him with a Military MK1 haircut but I do wish he would stop copying me! DC seriously give it up and make your own style choices!! :))

Personally its just what you would expect from a Reserve Bootneck now working for SIS! Lets hope they put him in an RN uniform for his final outing as well - about time they brought his military service into the picture - just as he leaves the role!!

It is time to hit the gym ready for the next outing

    Cheers :007)

personally I think craig will be superfit and ready when its time to start shooting.
As always he'll look impeccable and we all will be scrambling for his new bond wardrobe
He's way too professional to let himself go and i reckon this final film means everything to him.
He does like a blast out and then hits his regime.
In my opinion lets hope he looks more Casino Royale bond rather than basildon bond :))

Hey this is his last Bond film and he won’t have to work ever again lol. I bet he has been pigging out and resting a lot. Pretty soon he will go on his diet and intense workouts. I don’t think he looked that great in SF honestly, SP was okay but CR and QOS he looked perfect. Past two films he looked tired and old. Then again he was what 38 compared to 48. Huge difference.

I imagine it will be the same for many movie actors like this: Good nutrition, well planned training and discipline to stick to it bring the results needed. Yes he’s older but he’s hardly ancient (yes, it is possible to look good beyond the age of 40!!) and he has the advantage of having trained properly before so I’m sure he’ll get the results needed.

He was never a bootneck, even DC's Bond. His parent unit when SBS was always Navy, not Marine. Bootnecks always keep and take shiny stuff, Bond likes throwing it away, there's the clue.

Yeah, you see now, bootnecks would never throw away shiny stuff, they're like magpies. That's why they make their cap badges dark.

Just a small correction if DC’s Bond was on Op Grandby as per his back story he was part of RM SBS even if attached from RN in 1991, I have colleagues who would definitely argue that point they were there. That makes him a member of a Bootneck unit as most of the unit was recruited from the RM. SBS Command and Control transferred to RN from RM in 2001 10 years later! (reflecting recruitment from other services). They finally got their own cap badge in 2003 :D

Trust me he would have been a Bootneck if he served in the 90’s or at least an honoury one :)) probably where he picked up his love of ladies dresses and roll mats :s

According to his official bio he was seconded from Royal Navy D. I. No mention of Royal Marines in it whatsoever. As far as Op Granby is concerned, it just states that he served as intelligence officer on HMS Exeter both before and after the operation. RNDI were also prevalent during that operation obviously. Again RNDI and not Royal Marines. The ranks he held are all RN and not RM too. So it rules him being a bootneck out completely.

Thank God!!! :)) Booties drink their own Pee for fun. Bond would never do that.

I concur with Asp9mm, no way a bootneck, never seen a him use a roll of black masking tape or a lump hammer. No scar above the eye, and Bond has a modicum of intelligence. :o

I dont think there is any mention of the fictional bond being commando trained either is there?

To allude to your earlier point of men over 40 still being able to get in shape, of course they can ( Ryan Reynolds, Orlando Bloom, Hugh Jackman etc) it's only the much younger guys who think youve got one foot in the grave after 40. I'm fitter now than when I was in my 30's and I'm 42 tomorrow the one thing I do notice is how easy it is to pile on a few pounds though. Most male celebrities bulk up and train for a role, then once filming has ended they don't keep up the regime and return to enjoying life a bit more, I would say Dc is prone to weight gain these days, he's been promoting lucky Logan recently probably lots of eating out and drinking too much, he'll get in shape no doubt and a healthy diet will help with his appearance.

You got it Chris and nor does the tooth fairy!! :))

I tend to agree when I was a young buck I remember giving an older crusty SNCO a hard time because he took the time allocated for a fitness test rather than my own best effort approach. Whilst holding me by the throat he politely advised me if he had 30 mins he still passed whether he did it in 20 or 30 mins. After 30 years of service he was confident in his own ability and comfortable with taking all the time he was allowed.

Now 30 years later I get it I can still keep up and often beat some of the younger generation but I pick up lots of silly niggles, have to warm up for any PT, have to rest and eat well prior. Where as before I could rock up after a night on the town and do a 12 miler with full kit no problem and with a smoke break half way around! They recover in hrs I recover in days! As you get older you have to work twice as hard to maintain what you have and it’s easy to put on weight if you don’t. The trick is maintain what you have before you become a blob of yougart! :D

I am sure DC will hit the gym before stepping up for his last outing and natuarally will have aged like a fine wine.

To be fair I now tend to have a summer weight and a winter weight mainly due to weather I am just more active in the summer.

Oh and let’s face it we all know Military Intelligence is an oxymoron :D

    Cheers :007)

P.S Happy Birthday hope you the good lady and the P.O. have a great day!

All the best Chris's have their birthday on the the 3/11 -{ Many happy returns for tomorrow mate,
Theres guys over 40 all over the place showing it can be done, look at Ben affleks recent journey, he looked terrible a couple of years ago in his late 30's, and since he landed Batman and pulled himself together after his marriage breakdown he's looking his best ever, Mark Wahlberg too even Henry cavill let's himself go abit after filming.

There’s no doubt that men can be in great shape and still look good well into their 40s (and beyond). Daniel Craig just doesn’t appear to be one of those men. I recently saw a picture of Pierce - 15 years older than DC - and they could pass being as about the same age. The effects caused by years of hard living (coupled with natural aging) can't simply be reversed by six months of diet and exercise. That said, if he gives it his all, I think he can still look passable in the role. And if his performcane is strong, it can make up for the rest. Those are all open questions at this point.

It's probably just a combination of natural ageing, stress, and generally not giving a f*ck about intense training and rigorous dieting until it's time to begin physical prep for Bond. Even when he's on screen as Bond in perfect make up, lighting, properly groomed, and diet and training completely in check there's still usually some shots where he looks pretty awful whether its intentional or not. So I sympathize with him in that regard as someone who isn't photogenic all the time in perhaps the same way Pierce Brosnan is.
