Duel of the Martin Campbell 007 Films (Casino Royale vs. GoldenEye)

Hey guys!!! -{

So Martin Campbell has directed 2 films so far for the EON 007 franchise. Given that they share his direction as a common denominator, I'm curious as to how you would compare and contrast the 2. Which do you prefer and why? Also, what's your overall opinion of Campbell's legacy on the 007 franchise?

first of all I'd say that he's a great director, I like both movies very much.
whilst GE is very dark in tone and still deals with the cold war, CR is lighter and a lot more colourful.
both films are special to me: GE was the first Bond movie I ever saw, CR was the first I ever saw at the cinema.

My personal nr. 1 of the series is CR and number 2 is GE. Campbell is one of my favourite Bond directors and he did a terrific job with both films. But I have to go with CR, the script is better and I love the story, but GE is a solid number 2 om my list. :x

Great thread, and both movies have been in my personal top 5 for quite a while now! As of this moment I still rank GE higher, though i'm starting to lean towards CR more recently too. I'll say this though: Martin Campbell potentially rescued the franchise from a downfall twice, and (much like DN) he made two of the best debut movies of new Bond actors.
I think GE and CR should never be taken for granted! -{

Objectively speaking CR is the better film, but subjectively GE is just more fun to watch.

If I was pressed to say which one I think is more well-made, I might say CR would edge it out.

But like you, I prefer GE no question.

It would be interesting for me to make a ranking based on how well-made I think the films are, but I wouldn't be surprised if it dramatically contradicts my subjective ranking.
