S'funny. As someone trash talking the role, weird that he has a lead co-production credit on the new film ...
He is trying to sever the Bond archetype from its Fleming/Connery roots, which he deems to be "sexist", and turn the franchise into bland, stock standard action film fare.
That's what he means when he says he wants to "leave the franchise in a better place", translation: betray the very fundamental nature of the Bond character in order to appease third-wave feminists and their associated agitators.
The Bond films have always changed with the times regardless of the fundamentals of the character. He is doing nothing new here really.
You talk like you would actually prefer more sexism? Long running franchises like Bond have to be adjusted for current audiences for it to continue to be successful, times have changed, people have changed.
For instance, when I watch the Connery films, I sometimes roll my eyes a bit at the sexism, but I also understand that at the time it was perfectly acceptable.
The legit Craig haters along with the trolls who just want to get a rise out of people are all over this Craig not coming back stuff like Blofeld's pirahnas in YOLT. The trolls just want to make fans miserable on the eve of another Bond film being released and the Craig haters seem to be gleaning some perverse sense of vindication that they will finally be rid of this short, homely, blond interloper who worst of all is ungrateful for the undeserved opportunity he was given to ruin the Bond franchise for them. Most folks just want to finally see what appears to be a very worthy entry into the Bond canon...after that, well we'll see. -{
Indeed. Many responses to DC's Bond (my own included ) are more complex than a binary 'lover' or 'Hater' it has changed over time, and is composed of things I like and things that still trouble me. I agree we should distinguish the nuances of opinion and avoid harsh categories. For me trolling is a particular kind of unacceptable slurring usually of a personal nature. It has at times felt a bit like any negativity around Daniel and or his portrayal was unwelcome and enough to run the risk of being branded a a hater.Personal opinion is fine, and to be encouraged as long as it is reasoned and respectful to all concerned. If it crosses that line it is not to be tolerated.

I'm in for Craid doing another! After seeing the film I think he looks younger in this one than Skyfall! Plus I think he's easily capable of another one.
I also wouldn't like this to be his last , terrific performance from him in Spectre!

I don't have an issue with those who do not like Craig as Bond or the direction the films have taken; even those who state their opinions strongly or even have a bit of an axe to grind...that is what discussion boards are for. It's the trolls that annoy me. The trolls could care less about the subject at hand, they come on board just to derail, annoy and ruin threads.

Sexism in films doesn’t bother me at all. If anything, I find it quaint and amusing. Then again, I watch a lot of older movies and it’s something you have to get used to unless you simply want to ignore anything made before the seventies.
I agree with your main point though. Cinema must change with the times, just like every other art form. Stagnation is a death sentence. That said, I do believe that Third Wave Feminism is a menace, and the sooner the movement dies the better. It fosters a “men are exploiters, women are victims” dichotomy that has poisoned our culture.

Your right. He looks better here then in Skyfall...
1. For Your Eyes Only 2. The Living Daylights 3 From Russia with Love 4. Casino Royale 5. OHMSS 6. Skyfall
On the live Royal premier feed Craig categorically states he loves playing James Bond.
With all the interviews I've seen in the UK, Jonathan Ross show, Graham Norton show, I'm confident not only for one more film but maybe two, featuring Craig.
Personally speaking i thinkl Craig will make his "You Only Live Twice" equivalent, and then finish like Connery.
He ain't getting any younger and this 3 year shooting schedule isn't in his favour, age wise.
The only other way that may change is if they film two films back to back (perhaps with a connecting story arc).
I can't see that happening though!!!
I really would like to see DC do more Bond films- but every interview on TV he hasn't said yes or maybe, to another Bond film.
He's been vague and is positive in promoting Spectre the brand new film, but continuing on is in the balance.
I'd like to be optomistic but I get the terrible feeling he's going to walk away after the current excitement has died down.
If Sam Mendes is not doing another, would DC want to work with a different director.
If Bond 25 was a fresh start, you would have a new Bond actor, new Director and if Thomas Newman moves on, then maybe we
could have David Arnold re-join to do the music soundtrack.
You still haven't backed up one single claim - and it's really rather obvious that you can't...'linking' to a single newspaper article proves nothing...other than you are clutching at straws...
...the only person 'trash talking' here is you...I'd suggest you concentrate on the positives of the Bond franchise that you like rather than the stuff you don't...there is over 50 years of stuff to talk about...
I don't exactly know what "claims" you're referring to. Everything I've said seems entirely self-evident to me.
If you dispute one of my statements, can you please indicate which one(s) so that I may mount an argument or provide independent evidence in support of my position(s)?

Is it idiot season again 8-) I do so enjoy this time of year when the loons come out to post.
Craig always give it his all, but as a number of reviews point out, he looks a little tired in Spectre. He can't blame the physical training because I'm not convinced he did much for this film as he doesn't take his shirt off (the opening title sequence doesn't count).

Physically, he looks better without overdoing the training (and the better haircut).

I doubt he skipped out on the gym completely, as he looks quite fit, but at 47 years old his body is probably starting to breakdown from years of high intensity weight training, so he might be limited as to how hard he can train. This is purely speculation on my part - perhaps a member with more expertise in this area would know better.

I'm sure Craig trained just as hard for SPECTRE as he did for the others. The training isn't just for physical appearance, it's just as important to prepare him for the physical challenges of a Bond film. I don't believe that the wear and tear on the 47 yr old Craig is due to the training, if anything the training has prevented more serious injuries and helped keep age at bay. What has probably taken a toll on him are the stunts, long intense shoot in many far off locations and overall physicality of the role. Craig may not be doing stunts like a younger Jackie Chan but he has always tried to do as much as possible within reason and what the film's insurance underwriters would allow.

I do wonder if you get a good night's sleep on these films, they get you up early. He looks younger off screen.
How long was filming on this, was the Day of Dead scene done this time last year? If so that's a long shoot, right? Long movie, mind.
Every single other Bond actor always looked like a million bucks, exuding 100% class at all times.
Only Daniel Craig is always looking craggy, unkempt, disheveled and thug-like. Plain ugly.
But don't worry, I'm sure every single one of the other Bond actors was wrong to be handsome and classy all the time, and that boofhead Daniel Craig actually really is the best Bond ever...

He often looks better to me when he is off duty. I was surprised by the lack of shirtless scenes.

A nice clip from the 'Today' morning TV show over here in the states; hopefully will put this ridiculousness to bed.
“If you’re 200 yards from the end of a marathon, and someone comes running up to you and says, ‘Are you going to run another marathon?’ there’s two words you use, and not on a morning show,” Craig told Matt Lauer. “So that’s really what that was about. And I’ve had massive amounts of fun making this film. Probably more fun on this film than I have on all the others put together.”

I think Craig is like his films, you have a dig a bit deeper to get the point.
You ask anyone that has run a marathon, at the end of the race if they want to do it again, and I bet most say no!
Ask a woman after she's just given birth, if she wants another child, and I bet you'll get the same answer.
I think Craig has been stalking me again.... )
