I think if SPECTRE doesn't do as well as, or close to, Skyfall's box office it will give EON and the studio a good excuse to ditch him. It's obvious he'll want more money for Bond 25 so anti-Craig Bond fans need to hope/pray SPECTRE is a box office disappointment. You never know, if SPECTRE doesn't reach one billion dollars Craig will be gone!
There's so much wishful thinking on these boards at the moment. Considering the hyper promotion out there is an expectation that Spectre could [beat Skyfall's billion dollar mark
Hadn't thought of that had you?

I mean I know I'm a fangirl :x but anyone who has read articles, his biography and seen interviews knows what Craig is like...and surely the title of the interview was particularly antagonising, it's what the press do!
Thanks Sir M for understanding what I meant... it seems defending Craig on here is STILL an issue for some 8-)
I'm with you, Lexi. I can't believe this is still being discussed with such gravitas. Any hook to hang a hat on, I suppose.

OK, back on topic. Craig's lament has made it into American popular culture. . .Jimmy Fallon mentioned it on last night's Tonight Show, but, unfortunately, it led him to an all-too-predictable punchline: the news left him "shaken, but not stirred."

As a fellow fangirl I know exactly what you mean. After following TD for about 35 years (OMG ) I think I've read and seen enough interviews to get an understanding of what he's like without having ever met him.
Craig could give a hundred interviews saying how much he loves Bond and will play him till he's an old man but the one thats picked up on is the one where he says he's a bit fed up at the moment.

Yep!!!
I've been following Craig since '96 and I'm obsessed enough to know him pretty well - some say stalkerish ) but hey, in my head, I know him better than most... in fact it will be my specialist subject on Mastermind :007)

Whether you are Connery, Brosnan, Craig... you should know when to quit. Sure, Craig may keep the role until he is 76 - but is there really any point?
Why would he keep the role to 76? He knows when he is going, and we have another film after this one...
Please... do we HAVE to have him do another film? That almost makes me wish (but not really) that SPECTRE is a disappointment so they can ditch him - as someone suggested previously! ) ) )

In my opinion, Craig - as well as any other actor - should be able to defend himself. The fact that he leaves it for his fans to do it is rather disappointing. Then again, he has never come across as someone with a good personality - and this includes his non-Bond interviews too.

I think Craig is like his films, you have a dig a bit deeper to get the point.
He's done some crackingly open (and honest) interviews.. this one in particular is the most candid.
I don't really think he gives a toss about what people think about him... but he is a true perfectionist and he gives it his all... then goes and hides for a while.
You ask anyone that has run a marathon, at the end of the race if they want to do it again, and I bet most say no!
Ask a woman after she's just given birth, if she wants another child, and I bet you'll get the same answer.
This quote of his... which no doubt was said with a splash of truth, but mostly a huge load of sarcasm and tongue in cheek has been gold for the press, and for all that dislike Craig. I mean who wouldn't...??
The scene that sums up Craig for me the best... is the scene in QoS - when he's on the plane. The conversation he has with Mathis, about what he's drinking. Its not obvious, and you have to think and know the story well to get it. I think the same can be said for him. He's not going to spoon feed you platitudes and niceties... hes going to make ambiguous statements.
That for me is one of the reasons I really am a fan. He has an edge... he doesn't give a toss, and he says how he feels. Plus his charity work (which mostly goes unwritten) speaks volumes.

whether or not the comments he made were taken out of context, he should stop coming across as a whiney complainer, he makes millions playing James Bond for gods sake.
You can't blame him really with all those press junkets he has to do. Answering the same questions for days on end. Sometimes you just say stuff to elicit a reaction and it's worked. I hope he does another one though.

Apparently, Daniel Craig has been told to 'shut up' by execs at Sony after his cranky outburst to Time Out London, in which he was quoted as saying he would rather slash his wrists than do another Bond film.
