Daniel Craig's constant flip-flopping. Does he want his role?

Every interview he's been given this past year, he's said something different. In one he's saying he loves it and will play the role as long as he can. In another, he's saying he's done with it and has a family to take care of.

And he's done the same thing before Spectre. At one point, I recall him saying that during Quantum he was just biding his time until his contract was over. But then after the success of Skyfall, he said he was proud to be part of something really special and would do it again.

The process of making a movie is more demanding than ever, and at points, it probably was very stressful filming Spectre. Being James Bond in this era is both a boon and an enormous strain.

Where do you think he stands on his role?

With all this flip flopping, it sound like he wants to run for office. :D

I don't think he really wants to do another, but he will if offered enough money. And they will most certainly give him the money he wants. The Broccolis have more respect for Daniel Craig than they did for Pierce Brosnan.

Definitely. It's like with Connery, Craig can say all the potentially damaging things he wants on the press, but its in Eon's interest to keep him.

    My take on this:

From what I am hearing, Craig appears to receive 8 million (US or GBP I am not sure) per movie and he has a 4-movie contract.
This is a pretty low income compared to the record-breaking revenue that Skyfall played in and Spectre will very much likely get.
Cruise for example gets $ 40-50 millions/movie with slightly smaller audiences.

So the producers are getting a very good deal yet with their star and Craig has every right to cash in from his success for the next 1 or 2 Bond movies until he's too old.

This back and forth is only part of a big poker game for the next movie and I can't blame him at all for this.

    Agree with Higgins.

    Contract negotiation.

Tricky situation though, cos he's at the stage Brosnan was getting to: not getting any younger, the public may desire a change.

Could that be a reason for producers to sign actors in their 40s? So they can offload them on the 4th film before their wage demands go through the roof?

Just noticed this similar thread, but I agree it's all negotiations. ;)

    Thunderbird Too.

Mr Craig is playing a little PR game with the media, probably in part with The House Of Eon in on the act too, as it creates publicity for them as well, and keeps Bond in the media. Sir Sean and Sir Roger both employed these tactics too, and look at how many films they did! One became too expensive, the other to old for the part.
It's also worth remembering Mr Craig is very physical in the part, he gets bumps and scrapes. After a rigorous training schedule, weeks if not months of filming, travel, publicity and other pieces of work in between - other films, stage work, audio work, who wouldn't be cranky from exhaustion?
Plus there is trying to have a family life and the press nosing about.

I think he will do another one if Spectre is a success because it's good for his career profile and he does seem to enjoy the films. He has never taken the fact he plays Bond for granted, and he would not allow himself to do a film for the money alone. Plus the fact through Bond and other work, he has already proven he does not need to.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?
