Would Jason Connery have made a good Bond?

osrisosris Posts: 558MI6 Agent
In a physical sense he might have—looking like his father. But from what I’ve seen of his on-screen performances, he lacks his father’s on-screen presence. But maybe that sort of thing could have been developed, who knows. Roger Moore had less on-screen presence than Connery and he did well.

No. His acting isn't very strong, and his physicality and masculinity are not what is required of a Bond actor. Not that he's a wuss or anything, he just lacks the presence needed.

    I tend to agree.

It's like asking if Patrick Schwarzenegger would make a good Terminator.

I know Jason quite well through Robin of Sherwood and he is an absolutely top bloke. If I really want to P him off, I say 'banco' in a girlie/Mr Bean voice as it's an ongoing joke since I saw him play Fleming in Goldeneye and deliver said line badly :)) He's very generous and humorous and strangely, we've never talked about his dad in the 12 plus years I've known him.

Here is a more recent picture of him from March this year...

No, as he's not a good enough actor in my book.

Nice one! I don't suppose you could persuade him to join AJB? Ask him to ask his dad too ;)

I'm seeing him in April. I'll ask, but don't hold your breath. He used to be on a Robin Hood site though.

This thread has brought up a point I never thought of. I actually never really think of him as Sean Connery's son. How odd is that considering the level of Bond fan I am :s

Nothing exciting Im afraid, I broke my rule and allowed myself to be a fanboy and asked for his autograph :D but he said he was to busy :# Still, you don't see Sean Connery walking down the street everyday :D

It probably didn't help matters that I was standing outside of EON at the time though :D

No, this was the summer of 2003, I had just stepped out side the building for a fag break and Sean Connery walked past, it was quite surreal really :))

Maybe he did not like your particular cigarette brand?

I regularly walk past Sean Connery's New York City home, but I have yet to see him. :( A neighbour of mine saw him once.

,interesting, can remember that they did some filming for that in local woodland estate by where my parents used to live called Blaise Castle in Bristol but honestly can't remember if it was Jason in the role then or the "other fella" Michael Praed :)

He looks very different from his 'Robin' days. I wouldn't have recognised him at all. I didn't pay much attention to him to be honest, I was more of a Michael Praed girl.
