Where were you when Daniel Craig was announced as Bond?

It's been exactly 10 years when Daniel Craig was announced as the 6th James Bond, on October 14, 2005! And it even coincides with Roger Moore's birthday!

I was painting the kitchen in our new house with the radio on. I thought, "Oh no!" But I was pleased with CR - he cut the mullet and toughened up a bit. Not a massive QoS but loved SF.

I was right here. My first thought was NO! Later, I thought let's wait and see. By the time of Casino Royale it was YES!

So began "the Craig wars". Few at the time would have anticipated that Daniel Craig would still be Bond ten years later, most likely not the man himself. Yet here we are, and if Craig returns for a fifth he is set to become the longest serving Bond of all.

Remembering thinking - what the hell!! Crazy choice! Then I went to see the film whilst on vacation in Chile and after the PTS thought it was violent (for Bond), amazing and instantly changed my mind!!!

School, year 10, art class. I remember thinking 'He could be good'. The reaction the boards was quite extreme. From that day I really rooted for him as an underdog.

I was at college and I remember thinking "The guy from Layer cake? But he's blonde." Then when the first trailer hit. I kept quiet hahaha.

I thought, "the guy from Tomb Raider?" And "cool, another blonde Bond! My favourite Bond (Roger Moore) is blonde too." And I couldn't believe all the people complaining about how bad he's going to be and that he deserved a chance. Then I saw him and thought he was okay. Then I watched CR a few more times and thought, he can't compare to the other five actors who previous played Bond.

Can't really remember where exactly I was when it was announced. (Will make sure I will remember exactly whenever the next Bond gets announced!) What I do remember is that I was defenitely one of those shameful people claiming Craig didn't look like Bond, calling him James Blond and all that stuff.... Boy was I stubborn and unknowing... :))

I think I was at university in the last year of my History degree. It was the date of my 21st birthday. I kept an open mind and was pleased with the choice; Craig having been pointed out by the Belfast Telegraph as being the next Bond earlier in 2005. :)

I was at the gym with my mate Bones, we were on the treadmills. I nearly fell off when I saw the Thames river PR bit on the wall screens.
I was not impressed, I thought Mr Craig would be terrible. - And I am not ashamed to admit I clearly did not know my are from my elbow, because he was brilliant in CR-06, which is still my favourite Bond film now.
This is Thunderbird 2, how can I be of assistance?

I can't remember exactly, but as soon as I saw Craig, I knew he was going to work and revolutionize the Bond films. He wasn't another male model type, and he had Connery-esque qualities I saw immediately, and except for the lighter hair and reluctance to give his Bond the full range of emotions, he's been a natural for the role.

I was at home and a junior in high school. I hadn't seen Craig in much of anything at that point but I remember being very excited. His looks were very intriguing to me and I was very excited about the prospect of Martin Campbell being brought back to usher in a new Bond again. I was immediately skeptical of all the backlash when it started happening, and I was thrilled when CR turned out so well a year later.

Pretty sure I was here too. I think his announcement was the first we'd had with the internet so it was a minefield of opinions.

I remembering thinking 'NOOOOOOO' and being absolutely horrified. I then spent months saying how awful he was going to be, posting pictures of potatoes (don't ask) and then coming back from seeing 'Casino Royal' and declaring 'Bond is dead.Long live Bond'.

    Obviously I have changed my mind over Craig's appointment :)) :)) :))

I thought that as well. I was at home on the computer and saw the photo of him. I knew right then & there where they were going with Bond, and I wasn't thrilled. But QOS turned out to be one of my favourite Bonds, so I guess I was wrong.

I was at work... I remember thinking "YES!" but at the same time, I knew how it would cause conflicting emotions... and I genuinely felt sympathy for Craig.

It wasn't that much longer that I sought out AJB. I just had to belong to a community that liked Craig as Bond. :))

It took a while... and although not everyone is convinced, there are more than enough on here who do ;)

Well, I think the fact that I like QOS a whole lot more than CR probably has something to do with it... :))
