I now like Octopussy which I didn't really rate 30 years ago. Still cringe when major Boothroyd is in the balloon though.
OP seems to come up a lot.
I wonder if over the years people who once thought it was silly, now see it as being fun and intriguing with a damn good story and performances as its backbone?
Not really in that much agreement about the Mujahideen element of TLD making the story seem dated. Based on that logic everything pre Goldeneye is purely a "relic of the Cold War"?

If 'real history' is brought to bear, the group represented by Kamran Shah might, in time, have become the Taliban: this hypothetical switch from freedom fighters (Bond's allies) to enemies would be a more pointed change than any other ideological realignments implied, for Bond, by historical developments.
Critics and material I don't need. I haven't changed my act in 53 years.
My logic at the time was... Bond films are the best films ever, no question... so if TSWLM is "the best" Bond picture then it must also be the greatest movie ever made!
That logic still holds up for me.
My current 10 favorite:
1. GE 2. MR 3. OP 4. TMWTGG 5. TSWLM 6. TND 7. TWINE 8.DN 9. GF 10. AVTAK

That's true and a very good point, but for me, I'm still able to suspend my disbelief. And in this case, there's no disbelief!
Pretty much all of the Brosnan Bonds, though I was never as impressed by Goldeneye as much as so many other people were. It's not that they're bad films so much as missed opportunities for me. So, I watch them, with their often cartoonish, formulaic hijinks, and think they should have been significantly better.
I have to say my opinion about the movies has not significantly changed. I still like the ones I enjoyed when I first saw them. And still dislike the few I didn't enjoy. This, of course, doesn't mean that the movies I like are perfect, but those parts that did not stand up to the test of time well are a reflection of the era they were created in.
I don't dislike any Bond films but I use to love Live & Let Die when I was a bit younger, I even put it in my top 10 Bond films.. However, I watched it last week & it's certainly not one of my favourites anymore that's for sure.
Whereas Octopussy has moved in the opposite direction, I watched that last week & loved it!
Apart from DAF which I have never particularly cared for, I would say that I don't dislike any Bond film. Perhaps YOLT is the one that has fallen down my list the most down the years.
TWINE. It was my fave Brozzer when it opened and a huge comeback after the disappointing TND.
I popped it in the other day and by the time I got to the Renard intro, I was in the mood for something else. It doesn't seem to hold up, except Pierce's looks great throughout. He should have loaned Craig his TWINE suits for both SF and SP, and had them taken in. Might have cut a portion of the budget. Maybe I'll be in the mood for TWINE at a later date?
Honestly, I would say Tomorrow Never Dies. I first became a Bond fan in the late 1990s due in large part to the video game GoldenEye 007, so at the time I craved to see any and all of them.
But over time my like for Tomorrow Never Dies has fallen, just look at it's position in my signature here. I love the title theme, it's one of my all time favorite Bond themes! The action is great. The two chase scenes in the parking garage and in Vietnam were great. Lin's mini Q Branch was fun, the gun fight in the stealth boat was exciting. But the overall story.....a war over ratings because China refused Carver's terms and using Lois Lane for Carver's wife, seriously? To me she is one of the Bond girls I wish I could forget. Pretty? Yes, but boring. I put the two successors, Denise and Halle higher than her! At least they had a more important role than just appear then die. Yes, I know the same could be said for Skyfall's Severine, but at least there was potential, it maybe unused potential, but still!
TND just has become a chore to watch. I still willingly put it in, but about the time of Bond diving to the ship, I'm usually bored with it.
1, GE 2, CR 3, SF 4, TWINE 5, Spectre 6, TMWTGG 7, DAD 8, LALD 9, AVTAK 10, LTK 11, Octopussy 12, Moonraker 13, TLD 14, GF 15, QOS 16, Tomorrow 17, FYEO 18. TSWLM Not seen much: Dr. No, Russia, Thunderball, Twice, Majesty.
1: Brosnan 2: Craig 3: Moore 4: Dalton 5: Connery and 6: Lazenby
YOLT is the one that's fallen the farthest for me. I used to really like it, but Connery's sleepwalking performance is a big detractor after countless viewing over the years.
Skyfall is also one that, while I still rate highly, has fallen several pegs for me because of several little things (lackluster score, terrible suits, etc) that I have trouble overlooking the more time I watch it.
YOLT, I loved it when I was younger, now it's just a chore for me to sit through without dozing off sadly. Though I never loved Die Another Day, It recently dropped to the bottom of the list. )
"No for me."

All of the Brosnan Bonds except for perhaps Goldeneye lost a lot of luster in my mind. I first got into Bond with those movies, but now I really can't stand them. I can't help but think of all the potential Brosnan had that was wasted. He really was James Bond and looked the part more than anyone else since Connery.

Give it another go. As others have said on here you need to be in the right mood to watch it as sometimes it can be tedious.
Dislike is quite a strong word, I've never really been a fan of DAF and DAD and they're the only ones I mildly dislike. But I have noticed that GF and GE have begun slipping down the ranks over the last two years...
Probably heresy, but Spectre for me. I liked it on first view, but I think that my excitement overcame any critical faculty. The more I thought about it the quicker it unraveled into a grossly expensive and overblown missed opportunity.
Of that of which we cannot speak we must pass over in silence- Ludwig Wittgenstein.
DAF has really gone down my ranking of the films. I used to enjoy it, despite its faults, but now it's just bad. The effects are bad, Connery doesn't look interested and out of shape, the plot is stupid - it's actually quite an amateur effort and a step down from YOLT, TB and GF.

not heresy, beyond this forum I haven't met anybody who loves Spectre.

But you still rate it higher than DN? )
Enjoyment = yes, quality = no. I rank my films by how much I enjoy them. If I ranked them by quality, then DN would be a lot higher.

Dislike is too strong a word for me in terms of my Bond fandom. As rare as my Bond viewing is nowadays (I spend many times more effort on peripheral stuff like reading about all things Bond and participating in a certain Bond forum 8-) ), I do pop in a Bond disc from time to time and depending on my mood and it would fall into 2 categories: (1) the pool of "classics" (DN-LTK), and, (2) recent movies (GE-SP).
The classics will never loose their shine on me, and if anything, my appreciation for certain ones I've earlier panned just grows like for DAF, LALD and TMWTGG. However, among the "recents," the ones that I've passed on when the mood came up to watch a newer Bond flick were: TND, TWINE, DAD, QoS (which however remains my secret favorite step-child of the Craig movies) and SF.

Casino Royale.
I loved it when I first saw it because of the story, action and direction. The more I see it the worse it gets, feeling less and less like James Bond and bland.

We must be related. I'm with you on that one. The cracks begin to show in the writing, and you can't unsee them.

Me three. It's a tedious watch now - quite a bit of it feels dated (odd as it's only 10 years old) and some of it, hate to say it, is kinda cheesy.

Nice to have you back Wadsy.
Another vote from me. I'm glad I'm not the only one who feels this way anymore. Then again, I used to have more appreciation of it.
