OO7's haircut in the Fleming novels.

So Bond is described as having black hair- parted on the left and carelessly brushed so a thick comma falls above the right eyebrow. Lengthwise, how do you think it was cut? In LALD he get's a military cut or "American haircut" as described in the British editions. With that I actually do picture it looking like Barry Nelson's......or maybe Craig's in SF.
In Diamonds Are Forever he goes to a barbershop, but it's not described how he had it cut.
I suppose Fleming might have been envisioning Bond's hair-do about like his own. Or possibly like Hoagy Carmichael's in To Have and Have Not. Any thoughts on this?
If one were to go to get a Fleming Bond haircut would we ask the barber to taper the neck like Sean Connery's (in ALL films except NSNA) or square it off like Brosnan's in TWINE?
Since the novels were written in the '50s I seriously doubt he had it the length of Dalton's or Brosnan's in GoldenEye.
Interesting to me since Bond is vividly described wearing single breasted navy blue suits often with a short sleeve shirt and black knitted tie. How does OO7 like his hair to be cut?

I think Lazenby's looked good as did Moore's in LALD.
Not like Flemings Bond though, which is what we are talking about here. You rocked his look back then and you'd be called a girl.
then let's widen the discussion...
Brosnan had different styles throughout his tenure, the sub Duran Duran quiff of GE to the more clipped look in Twine (return of the quiff a bit in DAD) he had a good head of hair to work with. Tim was receding by the time he got the gig,The Jolly Roger was fine (if too light) in LALD & TMWTGG and the steadily downhill towards the lacquered Bouffant travesty of AVTAK. Agree that George was close, but lacked 'the comma'

Great diagram- exactly what I was thinking. Also the neckline was almost always tapered back then...unless the actor was doing a period costume film. Look at James Stewart's, Bogie's, Cagney's, Gable's. All tapered like Sean's.
And the fellow in this diagram, I perhaps should not say, looks a bit like me, or vice versa.

Pretty much a standard haircut for the time. I also noticed Hoagy's neck isn't tapered too tight. It's full until it gets to the nape. Light taper.
