Bond's flat in SPECTRE

Have not seen the film yet as I'm in the U.S., but for those of you who have I was wondering what you thought of Bond's flat.

You see more in the still released back in February. Don't get too excited by these scenes.

A pleasant surprise I liked it.

More like his pad in Dr No than LALD.

It seems to be in Eaton Place, not far from Victoria Station and Buck Palace (so not far to see the Queen) and if so I saw a DB7 parked round there when I passed a few weeks ago. Nice.

All we see is the one room a lounge, high ceiling, white walls looking out onto the street with railings, what is the design, Georgian terrace houses? Thing is, what we see is spartan and it doesn't alienate the fan by suggesting that Bond lives in a fancy residence, he could be renting and it would only be the location to make it pricey (though that it would).

You can impose your own ideas on it because as Moneypenny asks

It's in Notting Hill. Stanley Gardens. Not quite as nice as Eaton Place/Sq. But a fair bit quieter. Would have been nice to have him had an Eaton pad, being so close to Ebury St and Moo's mews and Victoria Sq, King's Road etc.

Very Spartan as befits a 'man without qualities' it seems entirely functional and not a place of comfort or entertaining (no surprise as this Bond has no joy in his life)

I hope you mean 'dressing gown' as a 'nightgown' is totally different and tend to be for ladies

But yes, the dressing gown is seen, but briefly....

I love the flat scene... not to give anything away, but it really reflects Bonds lack of 'frivolities' - it's functional, manly, and well... unfinished... a bit like Bond. He's too busy to 'make a home' - or "get a life" - it's all work.

Or, as Camille states in QoS - "there is something very efficient about you"

I have a problem with it, to put it in Navy terms it's not "Squared Away" with his background everything should be in it's place, drilled in from Dartmouth, on ships and in the mess. Stuff lying around not very efficient.

I think when it comes to work...it's like he's too busy to sort out his living arrangements...it's just not important at the mo.

It's a place to eat, drink and sleep. Pretty efficient to me...

From the stills I've seen it seems as though he had just acquired it and is just in the middle of moving things in. I'm sure he would have everything squared away when he would have the time.

I can't remember but Bond isn't wearing a bath robe so it may be hanging over the door but it is only the lounge we see, not the bedroom or bathroom if I recall.

Did Bond go to Dartmouth, from my memory of YOLT, his obit said he joined a branch of the MOD and was awarded naval officer ranks to be able to conduct his confidential work.....

Well, when you watch the movie, you'll see why that's not true

If we cast our minds back to SF ,M tells Bond,that due to his death ,all his belongings ie his flat had been disposed of ,So in my book ,Bonds flat in SP ,looks very much just moved in ,havnt had time to get new furniture ect ect .As sniperuk says ,Bond ,from his naval and also his public school days ,all his belongings would all be squared away ,it would be second nature to him .So I think he has just moved in shall we say.
