Do theme songs always seem better..

..when heard accompanied by the opening credits of the movie?

My prime examples of this are The Writings on the Wall which definitely seemed better in the Cinema and Die another Day which I loathed before I went to see the movie but seen in context played over the torture based credit sequence seemed pretty cool. All Time High from Octopussy gets an honourable mention as well because I think its pretty dull song.

The only theme song that I think wasn't improved by the credits was Another Way to Die from Quantum of Solace. A boring formulaic song that for me just didn't work even over the credits.

Well I guess that the songs are made to be consumed in relation to the film, so the context of the opening titles should make them more enjoyable.

But you're right, songs which I think are good but never really listen to outside the film certainly improve - like FYEO for me in particular. This song is a great song, but as part of the movie is really amazing.

The fantastic title sequence in Spectre distracted me from the song. I was paying very close attention to the visuals so I wouldn't be bothered by the song.

Spectre is Kleinman's best title sequence yet!

But I prefer his Brosnan gunbarrel design over any gunbarrel he has done since.

    Depends.......which song?

Writings on the Wall definitely sounded better with the titles, and in the past I think FYEO's sounded better with the titles as well.

The credits did look fantastic. Though I did still cringe a bit on the high notes.

Nobody Does It Better - while a great song - really works best in the context of the movie for me.

Mostly because of the way the song starts with the parachute scene.

The Writing's On The Wall certainly works better with the opening titles.

Is Writing on the Wall the first Bond song to start before the titles? Not by a second or two, but by about 25 seconds? I'm sure it is, but I may be wrong.

Which is the point I'm making..I think FYEO is better with opening titles although I don't mind the song anyway.

Songs like Live and Let Die don't need the titles to make the song exciting and hummable. The Writings on the Wall I have found myself humming to myself only since I heard it in context..not a favourite still but definitely seems better than it did.

I loved WOTW from the beginning and knew it would make a great cinematic moment from the beginning.

Yes. I don't like Adele's voice. I don't like the Skyfall song. But when I heard the song with the titles, I was blown away by how much I loved it.

Youtube the song 'Long Way Down' by Robert Delong and play it against muted Quantum of Solace titles. Just for fun.
