So many great memories watching those films TP and they were big events a Bond film on TV, first time Dr No was on about 1975 they were advertising it about 3 months before, happy days -{
I'm going to take this topic in a slightly different direction and choose to be actress Samantha Bond (a young GoldenEye Samantha Bond, not the wrinkly crop-top haired Moneypenny from Die Another Day), disrobe, and stare at myself in a mirror for about 6 hours.
It's an interesting question depending on the angle.
In terms of overall charm, masculinity, smoothness, intelligence and such, Connery.
In terms of fun, probably Moore. But here's the thing: Connery's Bond really never suffered great loss, the closest he came being Aki in You Only Live Twice. For the most part, he was spared deep emotional challenges.
Lazenby, Moore, and Dalton, however, have all suffered from Tracy's loss. There's no mention in the Brosnan films that I can recall of that, but he has Paris and, I suppose, Elektra, who the film suggested was a kind of Tracy figure.
Craig's Bond, however, has suffered the most. Three films have dealt with the lingering effects of Vesper, and the one that didn't took M. In fact, of all the Bonds, his is the least able to enjoy a normal or frivolous life.
True. I keep hoping that he can have a little fun, or enjoy himself a bit at least before or after ( or maybe even during the mayhem) I love those little moments, Brozzer enjoying the remote driving or Sean cheekily setting of the alarm in TB. I liked it when Daniel deliberately smashed up that creep's car in CR and would like to see more of that. If we can move on from personal drama he might just be able to let go a bit. Otherwise his life is just miserable and who would want to aspire to that? We get a small sense of this with some of the playfulness in SP and Daniel does a great job of it when given the chance. Next stop hollowed out Volcanoes and guilt free rumpy-pumpy I hope (but not too much)
Of that of which we cannot speak we must pass over in silence- Ludwig Wittgenstein.
Is anyone tempted to say Craig in SP.
I mean. He seemed to be having a lot of fun. Swann was great :x
Any chance of anyone wanting to be Bond in SP is quickly gone when the thought of that drill entering his face pops into mind!
My first thought was Connery for the sole purpose of having the best looking girls - Domino, Fiona, Sylvia, Honey, Tanya, Pussy, Plenty, Jill, Helga, Jill, the gypsies, Miss Taro, etc.
But on second thought, Moore had a beautiful array of Bond babes as well, especially Solitaire, Stacey and Magda, whilst also skiing, climbing, diving (with scuba gear and in a car), etc. He had great stunts and thrills, gets laid often and is one of the smoothest gentleman around. So I'd probably go with Moore.
Actually, before I thought of Connery, I thought Brosnan would be my pick, because of and Paris, Natalya, Elektra, Christmas, Molly, Jinx, Miranda, Inga, Peaceful, etc. But then I remembered the NK torture, so I quickly changed my mind!
Film: Tomorrow Never Dies | Girl: Teresa di Vicenzo | Villain: Max Zorin | Car: Aston Martin Volante | Novel: You Only Live Twice | Bond: Sir Sean Connery
I think MooreBond scored a better class of chick than ConneryBond generally did
too many of the leading ladies in Connery's films are beauty contest winners who cant act, and thus their parts are diminished from what Fleming had written.
whereas the female characters in Moore's films (at least starting with the 3rd) are as competent and intelligent as he is, sometimes more, and the actresses playing them are capable of carrying a bigger part of the film
plus they always ended up in those escape pods complete with hifi and chilled champagne, so that's pretty posh

Agree to disagree but of all the women in Connery's era as opposed to Moore's, I'd pick Connery's every day of the week.
Quite simply the list is endless. Ursula Andress, Zena Marshall, Daniela Bianchi, Claudine Auger, Luciana Paluzzi (who is not only gorgeous but is probably the best femme fatale Bond woman there has been), Honor Blackman and Shirley Eaton are all Bond women I'd put in front of any of even the best ones that were in the Moore films.
A lot of the female characters roles are diminished from Fleming's novels (Tiffany Case is a prime example) regardless of whether it was Connery, Moore or whoever. As for saying they (beauty contest winners) can't act, personally I can't find fault with any of the women I mentioned whereas actresses like Lynn-Holly Johnson, Grace Jones, Gloria Hendry, Britt Ekland and Barbara Bach leave me cold and this may have something to do with the films, but back to the subject. I'd be Connery; went to the best locations, dresses as well as anyone, had the moves, the charm, the looks (so did Brosnan and Moore admittedly), the coldness and I feel he (and Craig) is what Fleming had in mind as a spy.
"Everyone knows rock n' roll attained perfection in 1974; It's a scientific fact". - Homer J Simpson
Roger Moore. He had it easy. Not much work, a lot of luxury, a lot of beautiful women. I don't remember him getting tortured even once. Not my favourite Bond, but my favourite if I could be him.
thinking more about those well-appointed escape pods Moore kept ending up in...
Connery had to make do with liferafts in most of his films, they never had chilled champagne and a hifi
and Moore only really ended up in escape pods his first couple of films
his last three he's basically moved himself into the ladies' home!
I mean, I would much rather have an open ended invitation to sleep over in that octopus shaped bed, than be trying to grab a quick boink in a cramped unstable liferaft with Felix shouting at me through a megaphone from mere metres away
I love Bond, but the only Bonds I wished I could be are Connery and Brosnan. Both of them had that extra bit of class in combination with everything else that Bond is supposed be: humor, masculinity, handsome.
Comments
when the girl offered Bond the rose, " She must be the Gardner"
My Dad seems pretty excited this Bond chap is coming on the TV.
Getting Goodhead and flying into space must be a real treat )
Furthermore Venice is such a lovely place.

He had everything Bond should have.

bald?
"- That is something to be afraid of."
Bald and bearded is manly as it's the opposite of what feminine is (hopefully).

I obviously meant it as a joke; Connery is the man. And hairloss allegedly caused by testosterone. Nuff said.

Would also like to be Brosnan because he went to Cuba twice ) a place I really want to visit.

While I would generally agree with you here - but:
Connery had Claudine Auger. That would be reason alone to go for him
Dalton - the weak and weepy Bond!
