Just read this article over at Entertainment Weekly:

What do you think? Obviously it's all a load of fantasy, but I actually kind of, sort of, like it. It goes some way to 'explain' a lot of what I thought was wrong with the third act of the film...

Answer: What utter cr*p!
Entertainment Weekly really are desperately scraping the barrel.
I thought the final part in London was really good! I'm with you on that!
Incidentally, I thought the torture scene was full of 1984 parallels:
1) Blofeld refers to Bond as his little brother, making him Big Brother.
2) His description of the torture machine as targetting nerve endings is reminiscent of the machine in 1984.
3) The name Oberhauser is somewhat similar to O'Brien.
4) Blofeld wants Bond and Madeleine to turn on each other as Winston Smith and Julia do.
Have you seen Point Blank ?
The whole film is supposed to be the last ten seconds of a dying man's life: his eye's mind expanded.
