Spectre was pretty final on SO many levels. In fact, it made me rather uncomfortable how James' retirement is alluded to repeatedly there at the end, fantastic shot of the DB aston taking off notwithstanding.

Was this alluding to Daniel's retirement only?

It seems that the films have come full circle. Was Spectre made to be THE last Bond film?

For the first time I am beginning to wonder if Bond can remain relevant, film making speaking, going forward. Ironic, since Spectre is in my opinion the best Bond film since LTK.

Why would Eon give up on a $Billion franchise?

Highly doubt it, in fact I'd say they'd be bloody stupid to end it now. The franchise is earning the most it's ever earns right now, why would they give it up?

Of course they will return, but who knows, maybe the budget will be a bit lower next time?
