Yeah not a fan either, the still looks more like it's from cowboys and aliens rather than a Bond film, but perhaps it will make more sense in live action 🤷 I've said this on IA and my personal preference would be a military inspired overshirt like the Belstaff command shirt, which is more a light jacket than a shirt.
@Garyorange Absolutely okay to post it here! That's what the thread is all about! And it's a great alternative. I'll share it in the next post with credit to you for the find, if you're okay with that!
I tried to give credit to everyone for the finds I shared in this post; please let me know if I missed anyone! Also @SiCo : I hope you don't mind but I gave AJB007 a bit of a promo in the post to raise awareness of your new upgrades and the great community here (I'm going to do something similar on FB and IG). Since I know how much of pain in the ass a software change can be I wanted to do it to show some appreciation for all your hard work.
could you maybe post some pictures of the Gant jacket? The stock pics are quite dark, it's hard to see. I'm very interested to see the fit and especially the insides. The descritions says it's a wind jacket, not a winter jacket, so I wonder how this piece will hold up in colder climates.
@MoldedOne They have much better photos of the jacket on John Lewis (but the jacket is sold out there). That's were I got the product photo for the article. They also give more detail on the jacket. According to them it does have some light insulation and they say it's good from -5C to +5C.
Of course, it's that typical Rolex homage for which Invicta is well known. But the silver dial and the general appearance comes very close to the OHMSS Chronograph due to the similarity to the Daytona.
John, you mentioned once that the Lazenby chronograph is something of a holy grail for you - maybe the Invicta is something for your "Best Budget" series?
Hi! Thank you very much! Those pictures are of much better quality, I actually can see something :) Now I have to consider if I should go forward with the purchase, I already own quite a few winter jackets ;P

Mainly focused on spring jackets in this one, with a few odds and ends tossed into the mix. Also, I know someone recommended the Old Navy chinos a loooong time ago, but I can't find who it was. If it was you (or if you remember who it was) please let me know and I'll update the post with the appropriate credit.
Cheers!
John
P.S.: @SiCo@Sir Miles or @Barbel Did we lose the link preview function? Now when I enter a URL and hit enter, it shows an error message and the link won't function. So I have paste the link and move the cursor down a line without hitting Enter. Just FYI!

@canoe2 : I know the post preview function has gone but I’m sure there is a quicker way to enter a URL now 🤔 when you want to enter a URL you click one of the icons at the bottom of the box you are typing in...as in the photo below...
It’s the one circled...tap this then enter the URL...that should work...I hope 🤞🏻
@canoe2 I think what you are talking about is a new forum feature with link previews. I believe it looks like it was having a bad day! I edited your post and saw the red error but then tried again and it worked! 😕 All I did was paste the link in and hit enter. It will rely on the site you are linking to being online at that specific moment and there can be lots of reasons why it may not allow a connection at any particular second.

Looks better than the duster. Never been a fan.

@RonBerry I like it too! Into the next Budget Finds post it goes (with credit to you for the find)!
Post update: alternatives for Craig's Cucinelli navy cashmere jacket
I still love that look. Tried it myself a few times:
Have a great weekend!
John
Heads up! Just spotted another great SPECTRE polo alternative from Massimo Dutti. This one does have the ribbed hem! $50.00
Cheers!
Looking good 👌
Happy Sunday! New post: a look at my favorite brands for affordable Bond style
Cheers!

Hi everyone!
Hope I’m okay to post this . This a great alternative to the Dior jacket .
I’ve bought one and been very pleased with it.

No problem!!
it’s also available from the House of Fraser.
I was very pleased to pick one up for a song on eBay.
A very solid alternative in my opinion (I’ve only seen a Daniel Love replica though)
i have a couple of others
And this one...

@Garyorange Great! Call me crazy, but that Oliver Sweeney one would make a great cold weather alternative for the NNTD Matera jacket! 😀
No! I think you are right. I was very very tempted to get one but when the Gant came up on eBay it was game over!
Glad you like them. I’m always keeping my eye out!
I rather like the look of that.

You can also search for "Gant wool blend windcheater jacket navy John Lewis" and you'll get the images. Hope that helps!
Hi Guys,
it’s a thick winter jacket. Windcheater is a bit misleading.
For the OHMSS Rolex Pre Daytona please have a look at the Invicta Speedway 14381:

@James_StJohnSmythe Thanks for sharing that! And yes, it can definitely be included in the next article with credit to you!
New post: one of the website readers wrote a review of an alternative for the MA Sloop Suit:
Overall he was very happy! So that's good to know.
Sunday is a non-Bond post, but could still be of interest: Steve McQueen spring style inspiration.
Cheers, gang!
