Thanks for the suggestion. I will make sure you get the credit. I'm going to try something a little different for the Matchless post, but I will include options like this.
The Solden jacket is a tough one since most of the great alternatives have already been mentioned.
I tried on the H&M shawl collar cardigan, and while I wouldn't buy it because of its high acrylic content, I didn't think it really looked grey in person. A more charcoal-leaning shade of black, yes, but it's very hard to find this style at that price point elsewhere and it has the broad shawl collar, etc., so I'd recommend to check it out.

What a cracking job you've done , really well put together.
Informative and helpful , a credit to you.
If you can help with us Uk residents that would be amazing too , keep it up :007)
One item that I've been looking for a budget alternative to is the charcoal grey pinstriped suit from the London/Scotland scenes in Skyfall. I know Baron Boutique and Magnoli Clothiers both provide replicas but I've always been curious as to what other options could be out there.
If you have any information on any possible alternatives, I'd greatly appreciate it.
chriscollins007, I am trying to start mixing in more options for UK collectors, but I am more familiar with U.S. brands. But I will do my best and anything anyone can share would be a big help!
Skyfell: I have some other items lined up before I tackle suits. Honestly, suits scare me a little! But I think I'll risk a try soon, and I'll make this the first one.

Hey canoe2, great job modifying the budget Matchless collar. I'm really thinking of giving this a try! Where there any specific instructions you gave your tailor? I'm sure any competant tailor would know how to do this.

Thanks! Turned out okay; like I said, for less than $90.00 all in, I was pretty happy. There has been a lot of hits on the links to the Ebay Banana Republic suede jackets on the site, so I guess other people might want to try it too.
What I did was trace the original jacket collar on paper. Then I folded over and pinned down the original collar and kept trying it on and adjusting the pins until it had a height I liked that also matched up (more or less) with the pictures. I took the measurements of the adjusted collar height I liked and created the new pattern on the same paper with the first tracing so the tailor could see how much needed to be removed. For me the final height was 2.15" at the back tappering down to 1.75" at the ends, but the measurements will depend on your personal preference and the size of the jacket. On the pattern I also drew in how I wanted the "points" removed at the ends of the collar to create more of a squared off look. Then I took the pattern and pictures to the tailor and he went to work.
Of course, I probably could of just asked someone here that has the Matchless to send me the collar measurements )
Fantastic! Thanks for the info. I think that David mentioned that the collar on the matchless has a wire frame. That might be a nice feature to add for anyone else attempting to try this.

Didn't know that! I had my jacket done before The Bond Experience video came out and I must of missed that fact when I watched it.

Agreed! I tried finding some of the same vendors from Australia I mention in the post on Amazon UK and Ebay UK but no luck. Glad there is an option for the UK!
Tried to mix in more options for those of you in UK/Europe.
Had a hard time finding a good image of these. If anyone has the originals and feels like sharing a picture of them, I will be more than happy to give credit in the post.
Has any body ever found a decent budget replacement for the CR Jack Purcell OTR boots ? the nearest ive seen are Converse Hollis
any other ideas any one
Skyfell: I'm planning on easing my way into suiting soon; I will add your suggestion when I do and make sure you are given the credit.
I also wanted to get started with some of the more popular ties. Chevarian and Peppermill: Again, I will add your suggestions to the list and l make sure credit is given.
Always shaken: I didnt even think about those but it could be a fun search!
I feel another shoe/boot search coming on, so I would like to ask what would be most interesting to everyone:
Dress shoes from C&J (any from QoS, Skyfall, Spectre; these would probably be easiest for me to do)
The RJ Williams Chelseas from Layer Cake (want a pair of these myself)
The Converse OTR boots Always Shaken is looking for
I also have a special announcement for the watch experts on the forum: I would really love it if someone could put together a list of affordable options to Omega/Rolex.
What I can offer said experts: The opportunity to share your incredible and hard earned expertise on the website of a celebrated* writer with a loyal and devoted** following of dozens for absolutely zero financial renumeration!

PM me if you're interested! If anyone else would like to see a list like this, you could also apply some friendly pressure!

I am not planning on doing any searches for the JV Racer jacket any time soon, but Nordstrom has an alternative on sale for $315.00

Black, not blue unfortunately.

I also tried to find alternatives to the R.M. Williams Plaited Kangaroo leather belt. Tough one!! I'd like to know if anyone has other options

I thought this was a good budget option for the kangaroo belt

Baracuta is having another 30% off sale. The G4 is on sale, but only in faded black, and they have the G9 (with the knit cuffs and hem) in Navy blue.

Also cleaned up some dead links on the Menlo jacket post and added a couple of new options:
https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/11/30/skyfall-leather-jacket/
The site has been up for 10 days now and I thought some of you may be interested in the stats so far: the TF QoS cardigan (https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/11/30/black-shawl-collar-cardigan/) is still in the lead by views, followed by the Dior jacket(https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/dior-homme-mr-white-jacket/) and BC Morocco linen blazer(https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/spectre-linen-jacket/). The Matchless jacket post is in fifth in terms of views, but this post and the BC linen blazer post definitely generate the most clicks on the links. The boots posts and and OB swim shorts post have probably had the least interest .
Don't know if you folks care about this stuff, but I think it is fun to see what other people are looking for. -{

By the way, if anyone is still looking for a Dior/Mr. White alternative, that Club Monaco I mentioned in an earlier post is now down to $167.30 if you are buying from within the U.S. Sizes XS, S, and XL. Post is here: https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/dior-homme-mr-white-jacket/
Also added some new BC Morocco Linen Jacket options for the folks in the UK: https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/12/03/spectre-linen-jacket/
And a new grey shawl color cardigan: https://iconicalternatives.wordpress.com/2015/12/01/grey-shawl-collar-cardigan-esquire-2011/
