I've often wondered, is the 3d much of a benefit watching the films.
With the newer generations of tv sets the 3D up converting actually works quite well. Although only with HD stuff.
I watched some episodes of old TV Shows that are out in HD in 3D and the result is astonishing. To see Steed and Peel hopping across the screen in 3D is a blast )
As for Bond I watched Goldfinger and Octopussy entirely in 3D and it ads a new perspective to the movies as you suddenly focus on different things on the screen.
I will watch them all in 3D at one point, but probably just once.
Now if they find a usable solution for 3D without those glasses, I might switch to 3D altogether. But for now it's just a gimmick that is nice to use every now and then.
My daughter (5 years) doesn't want to watch the movies in 3D at the theatre. We went and watched Minions, Hotel Transylvania in good old-fashioned 2D.
At home she likes to watch a 3D movie maybe once a month, I bought here nice 3D glasses for children that are comfy and pink )
Frozen in 3D is her favourite.
I wasn't impressed with 3d in the cinema ( as you say until they can get rid of the glasses) but
a mate is very impressed with his 3d tv, because they use a different 3d system.

Yes, TV is not the same system as the cinema's 3D system.
There are a movies around in 3D that look short of spectacular in 3D on TV.
Guardians Of The Galaxy for example. Almost a must see in 3D.
But others look meh... I own only 30 movies in 3D.
With animation it works the best, Frozen looks fantastic in 3D on TV.
At the cinema 3D mostly is not that great and I avoid 3D screenings if possible.
Interesting. I just saw this thread, but about an hour ago I wrote a little about this on another thread.
I try to only watch one old film per year to keep them 'fresh'. When I first became a fan, I binge-watched the series in about a month or two. I've seen them all 2 or 3 times, except Octopussy (once was enough), and except for GoldenEye (seen it about 15 times). Yes, I was watching GoldenEye approximately 2 or 3 times a year! I quickly discovered I was going to ruin the enjoyment of watching Bond films if I became a super fan. So I've started practicing '007 abstinence' LOL. Choosing to watch one film per year around the holidays. Mostly, I've revisited my favorites (DR.NO, FRWL, GF, TSWLM, and LTK through SF. I've decided that this year I will watch a Roger Moore film.... I'm considering giving Octopussy another chance or maybe AVTAK.
It might be a really weird way to watch Bond movies, but it really works. I really look forward to it each year and they do seem new and exciting as there are some films I haven't watched for 15 years!!
Plus, I have to watch it alone, sometime between Thanksgiving and Christmas, on a weekend, with an empty house (or everybody sleeping), in a dark room, underneath Christmas lights, popcorn optional.
On Blu Ray on my Panasonic Plasma in THX mode. Other than that, I prefer to watch them alone, so either after my wife goes to bed or before she wakes up.

It's my weird little escape and tradition.

At home, by myself, and on Blu-ray on my widescreen TV.
And for the majority of these viewings, I would also watch at night, with the lights off, for that "cinema" effect.
Dr No watched earlier, Thunderball just finished, upscaled to 4K ,stunning images (and Thunderball is back to no1 B-) )
It now must be 50 years since my first viewing )
