    Thanks Sniperuk. I'd always thought Thunderball was the most watched Bond film and, adjusted for inflation, highest grossing film too.

    Interestingly, the ranking very broadly corresponds with how good the films are, with some notable exceptions.

    Actually, I see very little correlation there. But that's a matter of opinion, whereas the numbers speak for themselves. -{

    Nolan isn't a good choice for Bond IMO. His visual style is as colourless as his scripts. As conceptually interesting as some may be - Inception, for example - they lack the crucial joie de vivre that Fleming's novels and all of the Bond films (up until 2002) encapsulated.

    Thankfully, as you say, he may never be involved because he'll want to write and direct, and Miccoli probably won't allow that.

    If the Nolan brothers could persuade EON to allow them to write Bond 25's screenplay I think a Chris Nolan Bond film could happen. He does seem a logical choice. Major box office success, high profile, loves Bond. Of all the directors out there he would seem the most obvious choice - perhaps the right choice if Craig isn't coming back. Nolan wouldn't need to stick to past contunuity. The Nolan brohers can start with a clean slate and take Bond and the franchise in a new-ish direction.

    Chris Nolan did invigorate the Batman franchise.

    I think Nolan's visual style would change for the material. His movies do point to the fact that he likes the Connery Bond movies. I have a feeling he would make modernized versions of that. And they need a strong director to get a series of consistent movies.

    After seeing The Night Manager, if Tom Hiddleston is picked I hope he makes sure to start his own Bond.

    I just checked Martin Campbell on IMDB and see that he really hasn't done a great deal of directing since CR. I wonder if that is by his choice or whether there's another reason. I thought CR was brilliant and would jump at the chance to have him back again.

    I would quickly join the anti-Nolan brigade, however.

    Well, Green Lantern--which I didn't think was that bad--was savaged by the critics and tanked at the box office, so I've wondered if he's been hiding in shame since then.

    He just made a modestly budgeted thriller with Brosnan & Chan, and is doing a period drama with Brosnan soon after. I think he's winding his career down with smaller more personally satisfying flicks....
