Oliver Jackson-Cohen is actually an interesting name on the "list". I saw him play an eccentric high class hitman/killer in the film "Faster" and I recall thinking, could be future Bond material. Right age, right look, right height (6'3"), handled fights (looked to have some real martial arts background) and action very well in "Faster". Relatively unknown here in the States (pretty much TV roles) and to my knowledge has never dated Taylor Swift -{ .

The trick is can he portray James Bond convincingly on the big screen. He doesn't need to be Bond except in the movies. As far as aloofness goes, I never saw that in Roger Moore or Pierce Brosnan in their off screen personas and they had pretty good runs as Bond.
We shouldn't let all this internet nonsense cloud our vision. If it came out that the guy was a racist, abused women, was mean to his Mum, etc then I could see that being problematic but he's apparently involved romantically with Taylor Swift....oh how awful 8-) )

Don't see what the big deal is. In this age of the internet and 24/7 news cycle we get way too much information about people's private lives...it's the world we live in. Apparently, Connery was not the most pleasant of chaps and may have been abusive to his then wife, Roger Moore was a womanizer and had actually been physically abused by one of his wives (not very Bondian for sure) but we didn't know about this stuff at the time. If it bugs you, then it bugs you. But for me it's a total non-factor. Truth be told, I don't think the cinematic Bond is best served by being portrayed with a stick up his you know what anyway. ) -{ Relax, the minute Hiddleston walks across the screen with the Bond theme blaring for the gun barrel any thought of him "covorting" with Taylor Swift will vanish.

I agree that Bond actors need a certain image themselves. Craig's undignified manner post-Spectre has harmed public opinion of his Bond. I would expect better from a Bond actor. Or any public figure.

But even this is subjective; Connery was a notorious crank with the press, and never suffered his dissatisfaction with Eon in silence, and yet he remains the Bond gold standard---granted, this is the Internet Era, etc., and our own expectations have apparently evolved thanks to the 24-hour news cycle, but IMO that's on us and not the actors, who are human beings with all the attending quirks and flaws. If Tom is in love with Taylor Swift, or is merely having a globetrotting sex fling, or even if (as has cynically been suggested somewhere) Swift has hired him to be seen with her for publicity's sake, good for him---cash that check and buy yourself something nice.
I'm more convinced than ever that he will be Bond; as I typed this I had a flashback to '05, when I was vigorously defending Craigger on these boards, pre-CR, from a brutal enfilade )

I agree that Craig tainted his Bond legacy with his post-SPECTRE behavior. Ultimately, however, I think this will fade with time. Despite the narrative (which Craig certainly fueled), I believe that he has great respect for both EON and the character. And if he did turn down $100 million to return, then I give him credit.
Look at the way DCwas unveiled to the public in that press shoot, wearing a life vest on that dinghy, long floppy hair, no air of toughness about him at all. Then look at Casino Royale - and how brilliantly he came across.
