According to UK history books it's our nearest star and before it was replaced by the rain and grey clouds it provided warmth and lovely light and happiness and a reason for men to burn meat in the back garden.
Where I am almost every little shower is welcome and appreciated. Especially when it pours down enough to fill my almost empty 3,500-litre rainwater tank so that I can water the yard for a few weeks! Rain - what a pleasure!
Okay, seriously, my little pleasure are my new hearing aids. Two decades back my genetic hearing loss began & has bugged me no end. "What?" being in my daily vocabulary. Now I only say "What?" when I ask my Son if he wants to watch a Bond film & he says no.

During Religion class in Bergen the teacher talked about Noahand the Great Flood. She made a point of how it rained for forthy days and forthy nights. A pupil raised his hand and said: "What's so special about that?" )

On the west coast of Norway too! Have you noticed the "prewailing winds" of Northern Europe during weather reports? It comes from SW in the Atlantic. Then the winds go NE past the British islands where some of the rain lands. The clouds continue NE to the coast of Norway where the clouds meet the mountains and all the rest of the rain is unlouded
Today a large shiny ball of light was to be seen, I didn't want to waste it so it was
T shirts and sun glasses for me. Today may just be our summer . )

When I worked in Burnley many years ago, you would know that the sun had made an appearance by the proliferation of chavs walking around bare chested in their trackie bottoms with their overweight parents wallowing on the sofa, dragged out onto the pavement, watching a TV balanced on the window ledge.
I've just been to Pendle Hill with the family. The sun came out, followed by locals. Blinking at first, then suddenly frightened by this great ball of fire above them. Then they cast off their rags and started to worship it. I left quickly, lest I become a human sacrifice.
Oh you gotta love East Lancashire...

reminds me of travelling by train down to Landan Tarn and passing through the fens near Cambridge. a giant heap of burning wood lay piled up in a field close to the railway. I think the locals had just 'discovered' it....
I'm sitting on the balcony with an ice cold San Mig watching the sun go down with the temperature in the high 80's - retirement really could not be better -{
Yeah, well, sometimes nothin' can be a real cool hand.

My little dog ,is a great pleasure to me ,as im sure any fellow pet owner here will testify ,
at the moment she is fast asleep ,snoring her brains out ,but we don't mind ,
she is always in the way ,especialy when theres food about ,but we still love her ,
she costs us a small fortune at the vets (it would be cheaper to buy a new dog) )
she always wants to sit ,where I want to sit ,but we miss her every time we go away ,and she misses us too.she is a big worry when its holiday time ,to the point where we worry on holiday if shes ok ,but she goes the breeder who bred her ,and all her family are there ,so I don't think she worries to much about us ,But the joy of keeping a pet ,brings massive joy and pleasure and it will be a sad day when she goes to the big Crufts in the sky

That's funny, because a lot of people here have rabies. Or at least they froth at the mouth and try to bite me on a regular basis.
