Best Bond Kills

(I've tried the search option, I guess i'm not to competent with using that, as I couldn't find a similar thread which i'm sure already exists! - sorry if it already does)

I personally like the cold blooded kills Bond makes the best.
These spring to my mind at first instance:
- Bond killing Elektra in TWINE (the only time he directly kills a woman with a gun?)
- Bond killing Dr. Kaufman in TND (Love that scene!)
- Bond making his first two kills in the PTS of CR
- Bond killing Red Grant in FRWL
- Bond killing Vargas with the harpoon in TB
- Bond killing that goon with a harpoon in LTK ("compliments of Sharky!")
- Bond killing Sanchez in LTK with the lighter

And by far my favorite: Bond killing Prof. Dent in DN! ("That's a Smith & Wesson... And you've had your six...") Still brings me chills!

The most gratifying of kills in a Bond film for me would be:

Bond killing Dario (Much credit goes to Del Toro for bringing Dario to life and making me love to hate him. It's so gruesome, yet welcome)
Bond killing Dr. Kaufman (One of Brosnan's darker moments, yet so satisfying)
Bond killing Dent (Connery epitomises cool)
Film: Tomorrow Never Dies | Girl: Teresa di Vicenzo | Villain: Max Zorin | Car: Aston Martin Volante | Novel: You Only Live Twice | Bond: Sir Sean Connery

The killing of Killifer " You keep it old buddie" & " complements of Sharky"
    TND " I'm just a professional doing a job " ..... " Me Too !"

Infact far too many to list in full. ;)

    Superb list. I love it.

I'd also add the tie-swat "what a helpful chap" in TSWLM

Vargas "I think he got the point" in TB

Tee-Hee being tossed out te train window.

Throwing Cha thru the window. "Play it again Sam"

Bond whirling around and shooting the Russian guard in the forehead in OP.

Dr. Kaufman in TND. "So am I"

also one of the most underrated, is Bond killing two guards with one spear in TSWLM.

Professor Dent - Connery's best kill

The man strangled with a ski- Lazenby's best kill
Dr Kaufman - Brozzer's best kill

The thing is, but correct me if I'm wrong, in the Fleming novels Bond never kills someone in cold blood. It is always either in a fight or when the villain gets a knife out or something like that. Bond usualy hesitates just long enough to give the bad guy a chance to attack him so it isn't a cold blooded murder (for instance Wint and Kidd, Scaramanga).

So while the movie Bond is being portrayed as a cold blooded assassin right from the start, Dent in Dr No, in the novels he never kills an unarmed man.

I think there are one or two exceptions - off the top of my head:

To earn his licence to kill, Bond shot a Japanese cypher expert at long range, through a plate glass window if I recall (that may be a JOhn Pearson detail)

And didn't he also kill Von Hammerstein atong range, or wast planning to, in FYEO?

(I will have to read them all again! )

The first one is from the John Pearson bio. Von Hammerstein is killed by Robina Hood.

I stand corrected :007) Although the Japanese cypher clerk kill was authorised by M I believe so still counts as a cold- blooded kill...

Except for the fact that Fleming never explains the way these people die, who knows, it might be during a fight. The only thing Fleming gives us is:

"Bond frowned. 'It's not difficult to get a Double O number if you're
prepared to kill people,' he said. 'That's all the meaning it has. It's
nothing to be particularly proud of. I've got the corpses of a Japanese
cipher expert in New York and a Norwegian double agent in Stockholm
to thank for being a Double 0. Probably quite decent people."

    There's more:

"The first was in New York - a Japanese cipher expert cracking our codes on the 36th floor of the RCA building in the Rockefeller centre, where the Japs had their consulate. […] a couple of Remington thirty-thirty's with telescopic sights and silencers. […] I got the Jap in the mouth as he turned to gape at the broken window."

The next time in Stockholm wasn't so pretty. […] I chose the bedroom of his flat and a knife. And, well, he just didn't die very quickly"

As you can see, the first two kills in the movie Casino Royale are kinda similar in tone, but not the same. LTK's assassination attempt on Sanchez is closer to the Japanese cipher clerk.

In Casino Royale, chapter 20, "The Nature of Evil", Bond describes the kills. One is with a long-range rifle shot and the other is with a knife.

This is why I've always liked the Bond vs Slate scene in QOS, and one of the reasons I enjoy QOS more than CR - "he just didn't die very quickly" seems to be alluded to when Bond looks away as Slate passes.

Totally agree, that scene is very Flemingesque- but there's huge chunks of CR which are even more so and as a long-term Fleming reader I was delighted to see them onscreen, which is one of the reasons (well, the main one) I prefer CR06 to QoS.

Even with the premise of the film and a handful of characters, CR really isn't "Flemingesque"... Point out to me where in the novel that Bond storms embassies, breaks into M's apartment, sucks Vesper's fingers, makes crass jokes whilst getting his balls thumped and where M's secretary is in the male form of Villers and we'll start talking! :p
