So which of The Bard's plays would make the best base plot for a James Bond movie? I'm leaning towards Hamlet or Macbeth...but I am just an unwashed heathen from across the water,,,what do ya'll say from across the world?

Well, Richard III would make an excellent Bond villain, especially the scene where he seduces the widow over the body of her dead husband, whom she knows he's killed. That would be a great scene where he does the same in modern dress, but makes out it is because her deceased was such a rubbish gangster that her being married to him would have put her life at risk.

Could be wrong, but I can't think of a Shakespeare play that follows the heroic narrative of one person prevailing against the odds. Maybe The Taming of the Shrew exists in a good many Bond films, esp GF and Pussy Galore.... It's as unPC as some of the old Bond films.

It's already happened (in print anyhow). Of course my namesake on another Bond forum (MI6 Community) David Dragonpol, the ex-actor villain of my beloved Never Send Flowers (1993) is dressed up as Richard III in order for his sister Maeve Horton to paint his picture when Bond and Flicka von Grusse first set their eyes on him at Schloss Drache in the Rhineland, Germany.

I reckon Pericles fits that bill: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pericles,_Prince_of_Tyre. Pericles' daughter might be inconvenient but the episodic nature of the play means you could have some good set pieces.

I kind of see parallels, albeit with some reversals of roles between DN and the Tempest, TSWLM and Romeo and Juliet and Othello and TND!
