How early did we get rumours of the right title for the other Craig Bond films?

QoS was known 2-3 weeks after filming started

The first time we heard Skyfall was on 10/6/11 (2 months before filming) due to Sony registering the domain name

Thanks. So not for some time?

You can’t really assume anything because how it played out before doesn’t necessarily tell you how they’ll do it this time. If I had to bet we’ll get it at a press conference in early March, but all it takes it something like a domain registration leak and you’ll have it. But then also look at The Avengers who just had the title reveal with it’s first teaser...

I have the feeling they will be extra secretive this time because of the leaks last time.

    For Queen And Country?
I always liked the sound of that one.

They could go for one of the rejected John Gardner titles and call it OH, NO MR BOND!!. Somewhere I read that was a title the publisher tried to convince Gardner on before NO DEALS MR BOND became the final title.

    For Queen And Country
especially cuz of the context in which that line is spoken in Thunderball!
Craig has not yet done enough "for Queen and Country" in his four films, it's time for him to make some real costly sacrifices like the oldBonds used to do at least three times per mission.

On a mission, Bond is expected to sacrifice himself... :007)

Considering the use of the Hildebrand name in a scene with M in 'SPECTRE' my guess would be 'The Hildebrand Rarity' for B25..
  • James SuzukiJames Suzuki New ZealandPosts: 2,406MI6 Agent
Nah... I think after the failure of trying to explain obscure Fleming titles, like Quantum of Solace, I doubt that the Hildebrand Rarity will be B25. I took the usage of it in Spectre as a nod to it, but also a recognition that it would never be used as a Bond Title. I think the only Fleming title left they could use is A property of a lady.
Even Risico is a bit of a nothing word.

I saw that as the opposite. They think it’s a bad film title so it should be used elsewhere.

Yes promoting a film where the title is so arcane as to need it's own exposition is unlikely to feature again.

I think the three Fleming titles that have been thrown around on here for B25—Hildebrand Rarity, Property of a Lady and Garden of Death—would all be terrible titles for a modern Bond film. Nothing against the stories themselves, I just don’t think they’d have a strong impact, and would be fairly confusing, for viewers that aren’t massive Bond fans.

A very valid point, but I'm not so sure. Using the name in 'SPECTRE' could just as well be a cue to be picked up in the plot of the new movie. Keep in mind also that a majority of 'SPECTRE' viewers were (and are) probably unaware of it being a reference to a Fleming title.

I never liked the name Spectre as the title for Bond 24. It's annoying if you have to explain the difference between the organization and the film all the time. Besides Spectre is used (and will be used) in multiple films. It's not like this is the grand finale adventure. I don't even consider it canon... If I watch Craigs first three films I refuse to believe Oberhauser is all behind the plan. Licence Revoked would have been a good one, it does sounds like Licence To Kill but the general audience probably already forgot that one (sadly, I like it). Besides, we had 'Gold' in many titles. Licence Revoked would fit the story and doesn't ruin the Spectre name for me. As for Bond 25, I hope they go with a sentence and not just one stand-alone word. The Garden Of Death, A Whisper Of Hate or a made up one would be cool. They had three great Brosnan titles so we know they can deliver on titles.

I was watching a documentary about British Biological weapon testing on a small Island off the Scottish coast called Gruinard Island in 1942. They were testing Anthrax as a possible weapon to be used I assume in the Second World War if the need had arisen. As far as we know these weapons were never used in anger however this small Island was left contaminated with Anthrax spores.

In 1981 the MOD tried to decontaminate the site this was called "Operation Dark Harvest". I believe the authorities have declared this island now safe to live on, and the original heirs have now purchased it back for £500 and in 1990 it was finally declared safe to live there.

Maybe a title for Bond 26 and maybe a base story plot for a future Bond movie with a similar WW2 backstory just like the one in Golden Eye.

I like the word "Shamelady", but I'm not sure it's best used as a movie title. I'm worried the general public will get it wrong and believe Bond wants women or one woman to be ashamed.
Perhaps "Shamelady" should be a luxury yacht or the villain's lair?

In a little more than a month we know the title, but so far there's been no rumours at all. If you were a betting man/woman/transgender, what title would you put money on? :D
I'd say "Blofeld" or a Fleming chapter or short story title.

If i should guess, my bet is that the title is something nobody have guessed or expected. For instance, how many thought Spectre would be the title one year before the film came out?

People don't usually expect a title as bad and as bland as "Spectre". At least the bad title suggestions on these boards are usually creative. If Bond 24 wasn't called "Spectre", it wouldn't have given away the Blofeld twist (even without the script leaks).

Since the rumoured Norwegian location is Rjukan in Telemark, shouldn't the title be "Hero of Telemark"? :))

Or whatever the norse word for hero is.

The only issue with Norway is does it fit in with the plot, e.g. if a middle east theme it wouldnt but if a balkan/russian it could.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,337MI6 Agent
No. The old norse words for 'hero' (oldungr, kappi, halr, holdr, segr) don't look and sound right for a title. Besides, I don't think the Norwegian part of the story is important enough to the plot, 20 million $ will be 5-10 % of the total budget.
  • Number24Number24 NorwayPosts: 22,337MI6 Agent
There are several words in Old Norse meaning hero, but they don't sound right for a movie title. Not to mention that EON will film for about 20 million dollars in Norway, less than ten percent of the total budget. Norway won't be one of the major locations :#

Who knows - maybe it'll be called "DEATH FOR BREAKFAST"

I'm calling it now; regardless of what Bond 25 is called, Bond 26 will be called "James Bond" or "Bond".

That would be the worst case scenario - bland and uncreative :#
The name is Walker by the way.
