with all due respect matt, if you look at the number of tassels around the edge of the shade, the GE ones have many more than the TWINE ones.
the GE tassels are longer too.
Close, but no cigar B-)
Tassles?!? Are we now talking about props in Quentin Tarantino movies?
"...the purposeful slant of his striding figure looked dangerous, as if he was making quickly for something bad that was happening further down the street." -SMERSH on 007 dossier photo, Ch. 6 FRWL.....
Some fun projects ahead. After years of searching, I finally picked up the correct AVTAK shaver (I have a 1606 model that I was going to attempt to modify). The one I bought has some wear around the head - maybe I can do a bit of part swapping here. Looking forward to cleaning it up and adding an LED circuit. Also picked up a pair of Scott ski poles... I intend to post pics as I go along.
Cheers,

Always have an escape plan. Mine is watching James Bond films.
I was just at Fort Knox and they have the model from ‘Goldfinger’ on display at the General Patton Museum.
The overall model isn't remotely a match so it's possibly just the main building which is original (though in comparing the two I'd question even that).
I suspect the story has either gotten twisted over time or possibly, as a courtesy, a second model was built and donated.

The blurb says it was the one Goldfinger used to brief the operation. I’m not a model expert; I’m an Army Officer touring a museum who thought it was interesting.

Sorry for the double post.
I think it looks similar to the model but what do I know?
Thanks for sharing your photos, DJ007. Very cool model there. I remember reading another thread about this earlier on in the year - some further reading here:

The problem with a lot of this stuff is that people like to embellish their resumes, details get lost as stories are told and retold, etc.
For example, there was a bank in Palo Alto, California, which claimed to have the Knox vault door. There were three problems with that:
One, how would a prop weighing thousands of pounds get from Pinewood to the Bay Area?
Two, this door was real; the door in GF was wood wrapped in metal.
Three, the door opened left to right while the prop opened right to left.
For the most part I don't think it's a deliberate attempt mislead; it's people who don't have all the facts and a public which nine times out of ten doesn't either.
There's a plaque on a model saying it's the real deal. Why would anyone think otherwise save for some of us who've dealt with this stuff so long our first inclination is to start asking questions?
It's a close approximation to David Mason....but you can tell the nose and hair are different....and that isn't the type of knot he uses.
It was probably someone just paying homage to David Mason by creating this look-alike....

Beside the obvious fun of the working on a cool prop, the learning is always one of the main interest!
Here learning about molding and casting. -{
Cool stuff, Alex1995. I plan to print a couple of these in future - a lot further down my list though. Sweet piton barb too. Was there ever a production made barb with the groove around the end of the shaft? I ask because, I see it on many of the replicas, but its not there in the close-up on screen.
EDIT: Just went through my archive photos and seen that there is, but will leave it off for screen accuracy.

... though, again, I still have my doubts on that.
Difficult to be sure based on available references.

I had cocktails with David Mason last night in Chicago. Please tell he was real and I didn’t imagine it.
