My vote is for Lorde. She has a great set of pipes.
On a side note, do any of you remember this song from the early 2000s? Received a fair bit of airplay in the Chicago area, anyway. To me, it was one heck of a missed opportunity as it will always hold a place for Best Non-Bond Bond Song
I've been listening to Rag n'Bone Man lately. He's the best male candidate today, in my opinion.
Lorde, Lana del Rey, Beyoncé.... there are many good female candidates.
This may sound crazy but Post Malone doesn't have a bad singing voice either (not referring to Rockstar, dig up a bit on his covers)
It's never the case that they get rejected candidates back but if they do, give Radiohead another chance, their rejected theme was brilliant. And speaking of, so was Shirley's No Good About Goodbye.
a reasonable rate of return

I know EON try to get someone contemporary, but I really would like to see Dame Shirley Bassey. Hey, if the latest continuation novel can be set prior to Casino Royale, why can't the latest movie have Dame Shirley?

Bland, bland, bland...the whole lot of them
Rag n'Bone Man - bland? Never heard that one before ....

Lorde's bland for me but good on her for taking a stand against them.
Lana's first album was fine, can't say I've kept up with her but I don't think she's Bond theme material. Her voice didn't stand out, her lyrics and music did.
Beyoncé, I like ;% but unsure if we could use another Austin Powers traitor after Madonna. Do we have to keep using his sloppy-seconds?
I've only heard of Only Human from RBM and I'm more fond of it than most of the other pop these days.
What about...Dua Lipa?

thanks Punker, now I have this image of Craig having to settle for women Mike Meyers has already had his shagadelic way with. No wonder Craig always looks so grumpy.

Still, it's better than recycling used plots.
Now there's a million dollar fanfic in there...somewhere )
I'm not really big on "Pop Artists" in general, but that's just my musical taste. It was different when Barry was doing the scores and writing the theme songs; it was just a matter of finding the best suited to perform the song. Nancy Sinatra was the exception as they want her father, who passed but recommended Nancy, a pretty big pop star at the time. Apparently, the song had to be recorded piece meal and cobbled together from multiple takes as she had such a difficult time singing it. Fortunately the end result was quite good. These days, getting a "name" to perform the theme is part of the marketing and "business" of Bond. So I doubt very much we will ever see someone who may be very talented and a good fit but who has limited popularity do a Bond theme.

They could go back to the way Barry did it, where David Arnold could write a theme, Don Black or someone else could write the lyric, and they get someone very popular to sing it. Many of these pop stars are used to singing whatever their producer throws at them.

Lorde is involved in a legal battle over cancelling a concert as a stance
Against Israel. I doubt Eon will want to be connected in any way with
Any hint of controversy.
Shame she could do something interesting. I fear we will get the Prince of Beige again...

Awful

Agree about Rag n Bone man and Dell Ray, but disagree about Lorde and Beyonce, although I don't think Ms Knowles is right for Bond.
Yes, loads...and have done so for many years -{
Lorde is ok, some nice songs...Beyoncé - for me - hasn’t done anything of note for a few years...

Goldfrapp, lorde, Muse, James Blake spring to mind.
