FS: Arguably one of the most sought after items of Bond history...

This one hurts guys...

I'm working on a deal with another member on this forum and I need to free up some funds.

Hopefully these go to a good home. I'm not even going to describe them since everybody
and their dog knows what they are. I used to work for Luxottica, and this is a collector's piece.
I've never worn them out and about. I've tried them on, displayed them, and cleaned them though.

Please ask any questions, and I will do my best to go into great detail and I will post extensive
photos so you know what you are getting. The inside of the left ear stem is missing some of the printing due to cleaning.
And if you look under a microscope, you might see some very faint cleaning marks left by a cleaning
cloth. When I hold the sunglasses up into the light, I do not see any scratches though.
Keep in mind, I'm trying to be as accurate in my description as possible since this is a big investment
and since I don't offer returns. The leather temple tips are perfect.

Asking $1,900 or best offer.

What are 130's? I thought the sought after ones were 108's and compared to the Quantum 108's the frame/lense looks much too big and deep. These look like the later Williams model with the lower cross bar removed. What exactly are these?

Maybe these are pre bond? The case doesn't have the bond branding on it??
It was either that.....or the priesthood

These are the first run and screenused. So they can't be first runs as the differences are too much....

Hmmm interesting! I think it would be fair to say 108s in unworn condition with the Bond branding are the holy grail glasses.

From what I understand the TF 108s were made for QoS based off of the Oliver Peoples Airman. There were no pre-Bond 108s (unlike the Persol 2720s from CR) and an original 108 retail case should have "James Bond 007" branding. A picture of the inside of the left temple would be helpful as that would have the model and sizing information.

Asp9mm, the right temple markings don't match the coding for either the 108s or the 207s that I am familiar with, although I am no expert. (108s are oustide my budget and 207s too big for my face) I have run across some Luxottica-era Persols with temple length on the right temple piece, but Tom Ford sunglasses are manufactured by Marcolin.

Here's a comparison of the William 0207 (top) and the glasses for sale (bottom)

As you can see, the glasses offered show more in common with these than the 108's. All the dimensions match up apart from the lower cross bar. The frame contours are spot on.

I think they are the right ones as they should say 130 on one of the arms - exactly as pictured!

The opposite arm (not pictured) should say James Bond TF108 19V - this is not pictured for some reason.

The Williams had plastic tips instead of leather.

The box and case and cloth should be branded Tom Ford James Bond 007

I would not pay crazy money if the box, case and cloth not 007 branded as per the originals however maybe the opticians didn't hand them out in some case.

It was common ages ago on eBay for people to flog the 007 box and case / cloth separately to the glasses

I know nothing about costume/sunglasses. What I would like to know as a prop collector is as Everybody and his dog knows what these are? for $2000 are these "production" Tom Ford sun glasses or just the Quantum TF108V branded jobbies you used to be able to buy brand new for £225? because there is a hell of a difference between the two. Thank you fellow AJBers :s

I ususally don't do this, but I'd say at a ban is imminent for suggestive wording and the lack of replies from the op speaks for itself.

Yes I'm sure the Emperor has a magnificent ass :D I used to have the retail TF108V 007 branded jobbies. Gave them to a fellow AJBer however the question still has to be asked are these the retail branded replicas or something special? :s I apologise to those AJBers who used to suspect that Donkey was a Bellend who are now darn right sure of that fact! :o

Let's give the OP time to respond first - he may, unlike the rest of us, have a life :D

But I can't thank the people enough that have raised doubts about these {[]

Ive just checked mine and also have the 130 on the arm, I think the OP may have just used a stock photo of the box etc.

What about the other details, because there are many differences between the glasses pictured here and the picture of the screen used ones?

The lack of information in the description points towards an ex employee who got these direct and also suggestive that they may be something a little more special than you usually see offered. The lack of any real information and pictures of the MOST IMPORTANT part of the glasses which has the TF 007 branding and stock pictures of boxes just raises even more questions.

The seller also says 'ask more questions.... so you know what you are getting', which sounds like those Ebay sales where they are selling knock offs and attempting to cover their asses. Strictly no returns too, which also re-inforces that feeling.

Interesting, Grant. Thanks for the info on the TF 108 arm. [Off topic, but if you get the chance post those Dunhill zipper pics. :) ]

Interesting - in his completed items another (?) TF108 can be found that actually sold for $1,999. That one shows the 007 branded box and accessories, although the pictures look like studio photos and no feedback was received or left for the buyer...

Yeah I wouldnt jump the gun here.

I think the seller is not indicating these have any connection with production - just simply selling a pair that was available to the public. There have been crazy prices for these lately for whatever reason

Am I wrong, or is the ref. Number on the left temple?

Maybe the 130 on the right just indicates the temple length?

Wearing the glasses the ref number is on the left arm with James Bond 007
Right arm is the 130 text

Yes, 130 is the temple length as already stated in previous posts. He doesn't show the left temple because "The inside of the left ear stem is missing some of the printing due to cleaning." - Maybe a different lens colour was "accidentally" wiped away? At $1,999 maybe some blue replacement lenses are a good investment?

If the seller did not buy these new then yeah they could have been pimped for max sale revenue. Guess you could question why the 130 arm had not also faded
