All religion has brought more hatred and division in to the world, than any good
it's supposed to have done. Once God is on your side , genocide is easy, after all
    God is on your side.
Even the bible allows the killing of children and babies, the taking of young girls as
sexual slaves. As ordered by Moses, on a sect that wouldn't follow him. All lovely
    friendly stuff. :))

Tp, I leave you your atheism, but mocking on people's faith is not nice.

I know what's written in the bible - and the context and I decide what to follow or not.

I'd rather hear your opinion how to deal with people that are leaving their homes because of hat horrible war in Syria

Sadly I can't fix the problems our religious politicians have made for us. As an atheist, I would never
Have sent young British soldiers off to die in illegal Wars, which Tony Blair. Who is very religious and
Even prayed with George W Bush about it. So once again all these problems stem from " God is on our side".
So I think it's a little unfair to ask me to sort out , problems cause by others.
I come from a country where I've witnessed cold sectarian hatred first hand, I've see what the love of a God and a deep hatred for "others" is like. We've had small church groups gunned down as they attended a service, and on the other side we've had ordinary people tortured to death in driniking clubs for " Entertainment " .
So perhaps my views on religion, may be usual but I think they're valid. Even today the churches are persecuting
    Groups.
So I will leave the discussion, as perhaps my views " from experience" are not mainstream. :)

It's a shame these discussions break down like this, particularly as members contribute from their own perspectives and experiences, only by considering each opinion on its merits cam we ever hope to understand how the world works.
From my own experiences of working, living, dealing and fighting in many different places I've personally concluded that different cultures simply do not and can not happily coexist, what we in the "civilised" West consider as a crime or an atrocity others call normal and justice. Religious. Plays a big part in many of the world's bloodiest chapters. The Christian faith is responsible for more bloodshed than stalin and Hitler put together, the Muslim faith is worse still. But devout followers of faith fight with God on there side. For some cultures democracy will always be a Greek drolery and simply can not work.
What is happening now accross the middle east is a result of historic interference and sectarian fighting.

    Ok, btt.

Sad thing is that people who stood up for Erdogan on Friday night will receive less democracy in the end.

They will get a Sultan Erdogan, less freedom of speech and opinion and less independent media and justice. He already mentioned that the coup was 'godsent'

And that is what he wanted - hence the 'setup' of it...quite simple really.

Looking more and more like a false flag operation, Turkish int winding up a few disenchanted military officers, when it goes ahead arrest them plus others, the judges etc, who do no support Erdogan, one huge step towards dictatorship, burning the Reichstag ring a bell?
Ataturk must be spinning in his grave.

Erdogans Prime Minister says that " every country supporting Gülem is at war with Turkey"

Kerry's reply was that they don't take that on the humourous side.

Typical for Erdogan, after every victory he's getting more maniac.
After the refugee deal with Germany ( it's not really with the EU) he started suing German critics and MPs and now he really seems to have gone nuts 8-)

Whether or not Erdogan was behind the coup attempt, he certainly won the lottery with it. He refers to the coup attempt as a putsch when the real putsch is what he's done since: rounding up thousands of judges, military, police and now sacking thousands of civil servants. What little freedom of speech remained in Turkey before Friday is likely gone for good now. Erdogan was never good, but now he's little different from Lukashenko of Belarus.

I imagine that his chances of getting Turkey membership of the EU have also gone down the toilet, though in my opinion that was always something of a non-starter given their poor human rights record.

I have always wondered do these words mean different things in English?

There are a lot of 'foreign' words and phrases used as every day English which are better than any English variation: Bungalow (Hindi), Cul-de-Sac (French), assassin (Arabic), pajama (Urdu) and most things that Thunderpussy says!

Brogue is Irish for shoe, ;)
That's one of the great strengths of English, it can absorb and keep growing. Unlike many
    traditional languages -{

Agreed. Putsch is used in German and I suspected it was of yiddish origin, but I just learned the term actually originated in Switzerland. The confusion is complete :s

And rightly so, as it'd be disastrous to add them in there at the very best of times.

I do believe the conspiracy about it as the coup seems very odd. Instead of happening country wide
In strategic areas. It only happened ( Basically ) in the capital.
